??? for Cam W

Posted by tina on January 11, 2001, at 17:07:02

Hi Cam:
Hope the family is doing well.
Just had a question for our resident pharmacist.
In regards to clonazepam: How much is too much?
I'm having severe bouts with anxiety and panic lately and I am finding my usual dose insufficient. How much can I take before it is a bad idea?
Thanks bud
Tina

Tina - We are doing as good as can be expected; still trying to find that "new normal".

As for the dose of clonazepam, it varies widely, depending upon the person. Talk this over with your doc, as he/she will have a better grasp of your situation, history and needs. I find that one should use a dose of benzodiazepines that takes away the symptoms (ie the lowest dose needed to fend off the symptoms), but dependence problems start once the dose is regualarily being increased. Augmentation with an SSRI or a mood stabilizer is also another alternative to raising the clonazepam dose. I would not be able to say what a proper dose for you would be. I am only the drug guy and am shitty at diagnosis.

Sorry that I cannot offer more advice. Take care and hang in there - Cam

It's ok Cam, it was an unfair question anyway. I was beating around the bush.... I was actually wanting to know how much I'd have to take in order to overdose.
Wanted to overdose yesterday but I don't anymore. I had a nice talk with a very good friend and that always helps. This friend has saved my life more than once and I wonder sometimes if he knows that?
Anyway, thanks for NOT being precise with your answer. You're good people Cam.
Tina
Oh, and as a PS....When you"re in SanFran, if Greg mentions Philly Cheesesteak, be afraid, be very afraid!

Tina - Hang in there babe. We all have to hit the speed bumps in this life, and when we do we have just have to slow down for them.

hi
i feel like i'm getting to know you all. particularly cam.
heard you were going to s.f.and i finally have something worthwhile to post.
it's a culinary tipabout a pizza place in berkeley/north oakland called zachary's pizza.
it's not your college kid pizza. it's been years but any one who visits me from there knows they should bring me a half baked one!
if you all have time go. call 411 oakland. it's on college ave. just north of the rockridge bart station
my depression is always lifted for hours with a stuffed pesto(with or without anchovies).
anyway...just trying to give back a little.i work in the fancy food biz and i don't know much else...
thanks for all the info over the past month.
(call ahead they're often crowded)
suezen

OK, so I'm sitting here thinking....

Ghirardelli Chocolate, my world famous lasagne, Zachary's Pizza and the inevitable seafood.

Do you still have to have a passport if we have to roll you across the border back into Canada?
