My T is sick

Posted by TherapyGirl on March 26, 2009, at 9:57:09

I just got a voice mail from my T and she has the flu, so no session tonight.

I know she can't help it, but I am barely making it through the week. I don't know if I can do this.

:(

My therapist usually comes anyway when he's sick. Believe me, your therapist is doing things as she ought.

Do you chat? We could a bunch of us meet in chat this evening at your appointed time?

Or you could post here. :)

We aren't therapists, but we might be able to help.

I know that heavy pitt in your stomach feeling. I'm sorry she is sick. The better she takes care of herself, the faster she will be back at work to take care of you.

I love Dinah's idea of a babblechat at a set time.

Thanks so much for the support. I guess I'm okay. She called me back later (I couldn't take her first call) and we are scheduled for two sessions next week, so at least I don't feel like I'm losing one of the few remaining sessions I have with her. (I know it's more than a few, but I feel like I'm in a big countdown to the end here).

I ended up going to dinner with my friend and her 3 1/2 year old twins. They are VERY distracting, which is a good thing. At the end of dinner the girl twin, who has always had a special bond with me, took my hand and said, "But I don't want you to weave." It was very sweet. And sounds like something I need to say to my T every week now.

Thanks again for all the support. I don't know what I'd do without you guys.

I'm late to this but I hate those phone calls. My therapist let me know recently that he has a very sick friend and may need to cancel in order to help out or worse. He has needed to once so far. I understand but it does leave a heavy pit in my stomach.

I'm glad you get two sessions next week. And I love the idea of saying, "I don't want you to weave." It is perfect and so true.

I hope you have a good weekend, in spite of.

How was your session, Raisinb? How are YOU?

I've been thinking about you.

Thank you! :)

It didn't go well at all. I was closed up and totally icy, and she was (in my opinion) not trying hard enough to open me up. She said a lot of the right things, but they sounded like she'd been saying them all day to different people. I didn't believe a word she said, despite wanting to. It was disappointing. Now I don't want to go back next week.

Thanks, Daisy. I don't know how I missed your message before.

I knew the minute I saw my T's home number on my cell phone that this wasn't going to be good news. But I was on a conference call and couldn't take the call. So then I had to wait like an hour to confirm that she was canceling. I really, really hate those calls too.

I am also on standby because her sister is dying. God knows how long she might be out for that. She's had a rough year. And I am sympathetic to that, but it is unfortunate that it's also her last year as my T.

Today has actually been relatively good. My cousins are in town and I haven't gotten to spend time with them in several years.

Hope your weekend is going okay.
