my newest weird funky brain experience......

Posted by obsidian on March 4, 2009, at 12:53:49

so I'm driving to work today and I start to get the sensation of deja vu, and why shouldn't I right? because I take the same damn road there everyday...but I get the kind of deja vu where I am absolutely seized by it, this time I start getting this repetition of nonsense thoughts/scenarios at work (kind of like strange intrusive thoughts) and I get the usual surge of anxiety along with it, and this time I got a strange tingling sensation all the way down my right leg. The whole thing lasted about a minute.

weird huh? anyone relate?
I think my brain needs a vacation

You get deja vu, which at least shows I have a memory.

[The other day at Pilates (I *can* get out of the house) I was asked
'What did you do on the weekend?'
I couldn't recall a thing
'I've no idea. Completely blank. Maybe I did nothing at all.'
'That doesn't sound good.'
As it turned out I hadn't done much, it was so hot. I afterward made a point of remembering the day, but since then I have forgotten it again.
What we have to look forward to!]

But anyway, that tingling down the leg is interesting.

you could write it down if you wanted to. I often don't remember what I did a day or two or three ago. I am responsible for putting the date in a conspicuous place where I work. A coworker of mine had a good time the other day telling me how way off I was...lol.

I really think my brain has some problems. I'd like to have it scanned...make sure it's there, see what weird things might be in it.

the tingling leg was a new one...go figure

buzzing tailbone....wow, I wonder if it made it into the side effects list. That had to be a strange experience.

Any meds changes? Or even being late to take a mood stabilizer or benzo?

My weird temporal lobe experiences are almost always related to withdrawal of either mood stabilizers or klonopin. Usually if I forget one, I forget both, so it's hard to say which is the culprit.

I think it's a really good idea to get what tests your neurologist thinks should be done.

no changes, today is wednesday..I skip klonopin all day on sundays as per my pdoc to prevent tolerance and/or depression I think. so that means I had my regular doses on mon, tues, beginning of wednesday..so I don't get it,
but you know from my post above perhaps that I've been a bit sleep deprived, stressed and feeling like there's a bit of a storm in my head.

what kind of stuff do you experience?

I don't have a neurologist. Do you see one?
I'll tell pdoc on monday of course.

I have two neurologists! One for migraines and one for sleep. My migraine doctor referred me to my sleep doctor. I've been on maintenance for a long time with my migraine meds so I'm only on regular visits with one.

I've had occasional EEG's since I was a little girl. And one MRI. Nothing horrible ever turned up, but I think doctors like to start with a full slate of tests.

Let me try to remember the temporal lobe stuff. Deja vu only occasionally, shame attacks, phantom smells or maybe smell memories, and weird perceptual stuff, like seeing lines as slanted instead of straight.

I don't remember it happening unless I've forgotten to take my meds a couple of days. Or that memorable time that I stopped all my meds cold turkey for a few months. But I might be mistaken.

It was fun for about a minute. Way too embarrassing to tell the pdoc. I just found another excuse to get off the junk.
