My No Good, Very Bad Day ....

Posted by annierose on March 20, 2006, at 19:20:31

I knew I should not have gotten out of bed ...

Couldn't fall asleep last night until 2 a.m. My son woke me up @ 8 a.m. "Mom, I'm going to be late for school" and I'm thinking, I'm going to be late for work.

Didn't have time for breakfast.

Stopped at Starbucks and they had NO COFFEE (machines broken!)

Went to work. Okay, no emergencies there.

Went to my 10 a.m. therapy appointment. All went well until I left. The office bldg is being remodeled. Unbeknownst to me, while I was in her office, the carpet people poured carpet GLUE down the hall. I opened the door and quickly fell into a puddle of carpet glue (think SUPER GLUE). From my head to my shoes, I'm covered in the yellow sticky substance. The workers were less than kind, rather rude. Wouldn't give me a name or phone number, barely said they were sorry, "Oh, we were trying to see if anyone was coming out of these offices." Maybe a job best done afterhours! My winter coat, slacks, shoes and purse, ruined.

Went to my car and cried. Called work and my co-workers helped me see the humor in the situation.

Went home, changed, went to the cleaners (50% chance of cleaning my clothes), shoe repair place closed.

I was so distracted at work, barely got anything done. I leave on Thursday with my daughter's girl scout troop for a long weekend. Do not want to go, I'm dreading this weekend. I feel doom and gloom surround me.

Get home. Son has asthma attack.

Daughter leaves books at school, has 2 tests tomorrow.

And the straw that breaks my heart. My T calls. She has the flu. Cancels tomorrow's session. She has never been sick before (in 2 years). I'm sorry she is sick. I told her I will miss her and hope she feels better.

But I don't want another day like today in a long time.

Arrrggghhhh.

I think you definitely deserve the No Good, Very Bad Day plate today.

Is there a particularly comforting dessert you can indulge in this evening? And a good movie and a dark room and a comforter to curl up under?

Here's to a much better tomorrow.

Oh, annierose, I'm sooooooooooooooooo sorry to hear about all that. What a super stinky day. No, worse than that. I think it's the worst day I've heard of that didn't involve major life changes.

Anyway, what I mean to say is that you deserve some special treatment after going through all that. I agree with Dinah that a special dessert, or some other special indugence may be warranted. I wish I could bring it to you, and then tuck you into bed or something.

And . . . a very gentle hug if that's ok.

annierose,

What a crappy day! It sounds as though you handled everything very well though.

I hope tomorrow is better, and that you sleep very very well tonight. Enjoy that dessert Dinah spoke about, take a long bath and just enjoy sleeping.

I'm so sorry about your day, Annie. It was *definitely* Monday where you are, huh?

It really sucks. Think about it this way, though -- honestly, your week has nowhere to go but up.

Oh my goodness. I'm sitting here with my mouth gaping open. Just the no coffee at Starbucks sounded like a tragedy to me, but the rest!!!!!! And what awful timing about your T.

I'm so so so sorry about your day. It's like a nightmare. Or like a day out of Kramer's life from Seinfeld. Which is fiction--not supposed to happen in real life.

((((((annierose)))))) Can I say, "I'm stuck on you" without having to duck?

Take care. You deserve an extra special day of pampering, ya know.

gg

Thanks everyone!

I'm doing better. I decided I needed an energy boost to beat my blues. I jumped on the tread mill for 45 minutes --- even ramped up the incline --- got off, stretched, and poured myself a glass of wine (in lieu of dessert).

I told my husband, walking out of the office bldg covered in yellow glue from head to toe was right out of an "I Love Lucy" episode.

I did call my T to tell her what happened, and she called me back, very apologetic (even though it wasn't her fault). I'm hoping the building management company will at least pay for my cleaning bills.

It was my favorite purse for traveling - a real Kate Spade (my only) - messagener style. Enough to make a grown up cry.

What a great visual...yellow glue. All you needed was a chicken truck to blow past and leave feathers in your wake.

Please, please write this date down in your book and see what happens next year. It truly might be your own personal "no good, very bad day..." in which case you get a free "stay in bed all day" card for the next umteen years.

I'm sorry about your therapist. Bad timing, and hopefully she didn't give it to you. I would think the glue smell didn't likely help her upset tummy either.

I always knew we should get hazard pay for going to therapy!

Heavens, woman, was there also a little grey cloud following you??

I learned something from your post: if a person goes to Starbucks and they are out of coffee, go home, go directly home, and get back into bed.

Those carpet people racked up some mightly bad karma.

What a horrible, terrible, no good, very bad day. A really lousy one. But it made for good reading! :-)
