I'm sick.

Posted by alexandra_k on May 9, 2005, at 4:33:51

He he.
I guess everyone knew that already ;-)
I mean I'm physically sick
(please don't redirect - I'm getting there, I'm getting there...)
Some kind of nose / throat infection. I've been fighting it off for the last few days.
It is really a pain.
I saw my time in hospital as a break.
I can't believe I got three whole weeks off work.
And now...
The second week back
I get sick.

I really did rest in my time off too. Took it real easy. But I didn't feel like I had three weeks off when I started back. Felt like a few days. So I am run down already. Just when I was starting to think I needed to push myself a little. I need to take it easy again.

I feel pretty bad.
I know it doesn't help to tell myself what I 'should' be doing.
But I guess I'm not as well as I thought I was.
I'm not as well as I start to think I am sometimes.
I could never ever work a proper job full time.
Really.
I couldn't do it.
What I am doing is hard enough.

I told my t that the funding didn't come through.
I don't know what she is going to do
Where she is going to be at.
I don't think she feels comfortable seeing me without some input from community mental health. But now that is gone.

Trying not to feel small.
Trying not to.
I've still got her - right?
And failing that...
I've still got you guys.
Time for bed I think.
Sorry I haven't been around all that much.
I think it is winter.
Winter is setting in over here.
Yuck.

Ugh, sorry you don't feel well. Got any chicken soup? Echinacea or zinc?

Drink lots of fluids, stay warm, and rest.

Tucking you in now, with a box of soft tissues, some throat lozenges, and a cup of tea.

Get well soon.

sorry to hear you're under the weather. I was starting to worry about you last nite when I was surfing babbleland and didn't see much of you again. As gg said, drink your fluids, hot tea, rest...maybe some good magazines (or better yet, a book on dog behavior so you can let me know what is wrong with my leg lifting dog).

I've heard that you get sick easier when you are depressed. Wonder if that works the same 'after' you've been depressed as you were?

is it really starting winter in nz?

take care sweetie

ana

Aww Alex

Lots of chicken soup, good books and magazines, and rented movies. Do you have someone you can send out on errands?

So strange to think of it being winter somewhere in the world!

I'm so sorry to hear you're sick. If you have a nose and throat infection you'll need antibiotics, right? So you're on them aren't you? Gardener girl has painted such a lovely picture of taking care of you, I'd like to be there taking care of you too, I'd like Gardener Girl there when I'm sick, she's lovely and sooo comforting. Make sure your medicine takes care of your infection. My tear ducts scarred closed from one of those nasty bugs that lasted too long.

Take care Alex. It is very funny to realize it is winter now in NZ. Take care of your health.

You are a pretty smart woman, I am sure you will be able to work something out regarding your therapy. But sometimes, too much smartness is actually hindering your emotional health - as I am coming to realize. Maybe you should allow yourself to be less smart, and more emotional and hang out more with friends. You are doing your ph.d right? Did I remember that right? I think that kind of probably makes you more inwards, rather than outwards..

:-(
Me too.

>Got any chicken soup?

Yeah. I got some. I am not a very good vegetarian.

> Drink lots of fluids, stay warm, and rest.

Yeah. Still have to go to work... I NEVER take time off for physical sickness - seeing as I take a fair bit off for mental sickness... Have been drinking lots of OJ. Gotta be better for ya than coke.

Thanks gg.

:-)

Yup. I have turned into a bit of a lurker I'm afraid. My Babble posting average has gone down ;-)
I'm sure I will get back into it.

>As gg said, drink your fluids, hot tea, rest...maybe some good magazines (or better yet, a book on dog behavior so you can let me know what is wrong with my leg lifting dog).

Hmm. I dunno what is up with your dog. Except that it might be him trying to assert his dominance... There must be doggie boards on line. Maybe someone from one of those chat forums might have a better idea?

I have to read Descartes at the mo.
And learn about rhetorical fallacies.
Don't mind Descartes so it isn't too bad.
5 weeks (incl this one) to go.
Then I really am going to crash for a while.

> I've heard that you get sick easier when you are depressed. Wonder if that works the same 'after' you've been depressed as you were?

Yeah. I wonder if I am still fairly depressed, actually... Or maybe it is just cause I'm sick..

> is it really starting winter in nz?

Absolutely.
Are you guys into summer yet, or is it still spring?
June / July is winter here.
But it is getting fairly cold here.
I'm tempted to say it is freezing.
But you guys might just call me on that.
We don't get cold enough for snow :-)

Redirect: I'm sick.
