Why would it need to be publicized that this particular guest expert is *your* therapist? Why couldn't he just be a guest expert?

Because once I offered him and Dr. Bob responded, it would look sort of suspicious if he just showed up, I would think. :(

yeah, but wouldn't you offer him up and wouldn't Dr. Bob accept him in private emails. I don't see this as something for the admin board, or am I missing something?

I wouldn't do it if I were you. Babble is a space that has almost become like a private diary for me.. in a sense public, but yet private. I have given this URL to my ex T, but I honestly don't think he would ever read here. What if you give your T the permission to come here and later on need to vent about stuff that even your T doesn't know or you don't want them to know?

Besides, I think your therapist would decline it. I would, if I were a T and my client offered me something like that. I think most people would.

I'm reasonably sure he would. In fact, I don't need to warn him if he does right away. I'd rather not warn him because that would be admitting a bit of what I say.

My guess is that Dr. Bob would say no to a poster here wanting his or her T to be a guest expert. I have this feeling Dr. B would say no, that it would mix things up too much. Just a hunch.

Dinah -
But you bring up a good point. There are never any guest experts on this board. I think it would be nice to get a psychologist's point of view over here now and then.

The T would need to disclose his orientation. That would be very important to know. For instance, a behavior mod type would not encourage the dependent feelings a more freudian type would develop.

You are brave to offer up your therapist. And I think it may be hurtful for you, personally. But I like the general idea.

I hope you had a warm and fuzzy session today!!

But he would stick to the admin board - right?
Just tell him that he is NOT to come over here.
I imagine that he won't be bothered reading through lots and lots of posts.
Probably just ones that are directed to him.

Maybe...
Just ask him and let him make up his own mind.
By the way - I do think it is brave of you to be taking the suggestion seriously.

Personally...
I would be interested to hear what he had to say.

I would think Dr. Bob was a saint if he could locate Deborah Lott for us. I've never been able to find her. But he might have avenues we don't have.

I'd never offer my therapist for the Psychology Board. Never.

Besides, we all want Daisy's therapist for that. :)

No, really we all want Daisy's therapist to give that seminar to our therapists. (My therapist just didn't find that charming.)

You don't think Dr. Bob meant it seriously? Hmmm... never thought of that. I tend to be quite literal, and I thought Dr. Bob knew that.

Good on you :-)

He's thinking about it. He sounded intrigued. He's sounded pretty intrigued by Babble in general lately. I'm guessing he'd still say no. The last time he said he'd think about something he never mentioned it again.

My ex T would have straight away refused. He even first refused to take this url even intiially. But I kind of just gave it to him in writing. I think therapists wouldn't want to have anything to do with what the client is / says / participates in outside of therapy.

He checked the parameters and made sure it was an Admin thing only. And he hasn't said yes. And if his history is a guide it will go into the great never mentioned place in the sky. :)

I'm so impressed by your courage. I think I'd be so defensive for him, not that I think the Board expects perfect. And what if YOU didn't like his answers? Ack -- I would worry the whole week.

btw, I'll work on that seminar thing. Perhaps that is one way I could get to meet everyone. Chicago is definitely out for me this summer.

One thing I'm really really good at is separating myself from others. I wouldn't in any way want to cause my therapist embarassment because of something I've said which would then be linked to the real him. But if he embarasses himself... Well, that's him and has nothing to do with me. :)

If he says something I don't like, it won't be the first time. But I know anything he says will have a hearty dose of empathy because that's who he is 99% of the time.

I'm like that with my son and my husband too. If they do something to embarass themselves, I might feel bad for them, but I don't take it personally. I wish my husband were like that. He's afraid that if my son behaves badly it reflects on him. And he's embarassed of me all the time.

Oh well.

Anyway, I think in the end he's unlikely to do it. But perhaps he'll suggest a colleague.

I did say another expert on community building would be OK, too. He wouldn't have to say whether he was your therapist or not. Though of course you would know, so there's still that issue...
