Was wondering if depression and anxiety can cause you to feel very unwell ?

i am aching all over especially my shoulders neck arms legs well that is all over.. i have mild headaches, feeling very tired, i feel dreamy like im in a dream, i feel very weird like i am gonna lose my mind if i am on my own.. and i dont want to be on my own, i am getting more and more panicky and worried that there something bad wrng with me..

in the past i have had 2xeeg (brain waves,) ekg mri and blood tests my last blood test was about 4 weeks ago.. nothing is found the docs say depression? i am a little concerned of a brain tumour or something since reading something on another board i visit, BUt i had mri about 2 yrs ago when my anxiety was worse but not as bad as now, and my last eeg was last yr my last ekg was about 4 weeks ago and nothing abnormal was found in my brain or with my hrt.. ? surely if there was, either the mri or eeg would of found it? pretty scary... dunno if u read my other post but thats added to it also.. been feeling like this for well since stoping the remeron .. ??

Got myself convinced now of a brain tumour... abnormal moods etc etc ... is there any other tests that can determine wats going on with me if not physically then mentally? -- i am seeing a new physciatrist on monday and will run any info past him.. as i will not take no meds he prescribes till i know exactly watsup with me as no meds have worked they have all just made me worse.. and that tells me thats something isnt right..

I hope your not one of the people who told me not to post to you. If so I'm in for another "time out."

Here's my suggestions:

Tests to consider asking for:

Serum Folate and B 12, homocysteine, and methylmalonic acid.

Here's why: http://www.aafp.org/afp/20030301/979.html

Also, your symptoms are consistent with a viral illness. Also, brain scans and blood tests do miss some things. Did you have a "regular" MRI or a functional MRI?

Here's a link to an abstract that shows just how prevalent physical illnesses are in psychiatric patients:

I hope you find this useful.

My experiences tell me to NEVER accept a psychological diagnosis by default. The Dx needs concrete proof.

When I get anxious, all sorts of things happen. My body reacts, I get more migraines, I often get listless, and I get unreasonable fears. Like, I worry that one of my cats has cancer, that my best friends no longer like me.

Chick, I don't know your circumstances, but it could very well be that you are experiencing a peak of anxiety for some reason. Thanksgiving is over, Christmas is coming up - are you looking at dealing with family stuff soon? Has something happened recently that might have made you feel as you do? Had something changed in your life around the time these symptoms started?

Stopping Remeron is probably the culprit.

In any case, there are things you could do:

make sure you are getting lots of exercise, early in the day, not at night or it can keep you awake. Exercise can help the body recalibrate, can be the most helpful thing for our minds. Get outside and walk.

Try to sleep regular hours. Go to bed at the same time each night and get up at the same time each morning whehter you have slept well or not.

If you have to nap, do so in the early afternoon for not more than 30 minutes.

Drink lots LOTS of water. Avoid too much coffee and tea. Herb teas are great.

Try not to eat too much sugar.

Eat balanced, regular meals.

Make sure you are getting enough B vitamins. A good B-stress complex can help.

Chick, the way you are feeling is the sort of thing it's good to have a psychiatrist for. S/he can help you sort it out. Could you discuss the suggestions I made above with him/her?

If it's from discontinuing Remeron, it's a matter of time. I hope you came off it very slowly.

As for whether or not you have a brain tumour, you probably don't. You are probably having a reaction either to the withdrawal from Remeron (most probable), or to stressors in your life. Could it be a combination fo both?

Of course, this is the world according to Shortelise. Only my experience. Sometimes when I am going through an awful time, I can help myself by telling myself that it will pass, it will pass.
