What kind of therapy does he do? CBT? Psychodynamic?

Different kinds of therapy address transference in different ways. My CBT therapist didn't know what to do with my transference (if she even saw it as that). Seems like I do nothing else with my Psychodynamic therapist.

You might want to have a general discussion about why your therapist feels that way. Tell him that you understood that transference was part of therapy, so why would that cause him to terminate? You need some more information from him. (And I wouldn't tell him how you feel until you understand his position better). If you find that he cannot work with transference, and you believe that you are experiencing it, then I would strongly suggest that you talk to him about getting a referral to a different kind of therapist. Unless he is a real jerk, he should be able to see that you need something that he can't give you and help you to find the help that you need, and support you while you are looking. Ask him about what kinds of therapy exist and how each might be helpful (or not helpful) to you.

Sorry that this is a little disjointed. I guess the main theory is that different therapies and therapists work better for different patients. You need to find out if your current therapist has the best orientation for your issues.

Good luck, I would like to know how it is going.
