SI - I finally told my pdoc - thanks guys

Posted by Camille Dumont on November 13, 2003, at 8:18:01

For years I've been self injuring ... ripping the skin from my feet untile they would become bloody and make walking very painful .All through this time I felt unable to tell my pdoc. I talked about it with you guys on this board and many told me to not be afraid to talk about it.

Well, I did it yesterday and indeed it wasn't as bad as I expected and I do feel much better. So I just wanted to say thanks to those who encouraged me.

It's great that you were able to get up the courage to tell him. He'll be able to help you much better now he has more information. And telling our therapists things is rarely as hard as we expect. :)

I'll bet you're glad it's over and out in the open (at least with him).

gold star for you.....good job (nm)

Good for you!! That took real courage.

I always feel closer to my therapist when I tell him something awful and he doesn't throw me out. Maybe I'll really trust him some day!

(((((Camille))))))
I went through that same experience a few months ago. I was terrified to tell my pdoc that I was SI. He was surprisingly calm and laid back about my confession. I was relieved. We are working on it, and I haven't done it for quite a while now! :) God bless you in your recovery.
