Yep. Although I don't see it as a major problem at the moment. I used the standard CBT techniques of challenging thoughts, exposure (not all that useful since my OCD is more obsessional than compulsive, relaxation techniques. Just understanding them for what they are helps a heck of a lot. My personal favorite is to make fun of the obsessions. Sing them to a silly tune at the top of my lungs. Talking about them helps too.

I still have my moments, mind you. But the severe ones come far less frequently.

Have you had any success with therapy?

My girlfriend suffered from OCD and couldn't be near blood and kept thinking she'd left the gas on (even if we had electric) before she started at the priory she was unable to relax and became very withdrawn. Seeing people worse than herself brought her back to life. I can only suggest therapy, singular or group-whatever is right for you. Just know that OCD amplifies your own sub concious so if you get to know your inner self better you can find a way of combating what can be a very destructive condition.

I wish you all the best

Dinah,
Making fun of the ridiculous actions OCD forces you into is a great way of moving forward. It also helps if the people you love around you can see it in the same way.
