prosac question

Posted by booger on July 28, 2002, at 23:07:08

My fiancee has been taking it for a while. She seems to have become completely apathetic about our relationship, which previously had been very strong. She is taking it for anxiety disorder and the results with respect to that have been good.

That being said, I really don't recognize her as a person anymore. Has anyone else heard of this type of reaction from prosac? It is possible that she is just not interested in me anymore, which is fine, but I am trying to figure it out. We are temporarily separated, so I can't ever seem to get her on the phone, which is totally out of character for her...

Not good. Yes, Prozac and all of the other drugs in it's class cause apathy. Hell of a side effect. I take Celexa and sometimes don't care about anything but I'm not depressed. Talk to her and her doctor if you can.
It's great to have a loved one around to spot behaviors. My 1st post on this board in 98 was Paxil and apathy.
It is most probably the drug.
Good luck.
