new pdoc interview (again)

Posted by terra miller on July 27, 2002, at 13:58:28

hey. this time i took your advice, whoever gave it to me. :-)

i have to change pdocs cuz of insurance issues. i went to one guy last month who was a TOTAL LOOOOOOOOOOOSER! so then my therapist gets a mailing about a pdoc who is moving from half to full time and now accepting new clients. so, this time i asked my therapist if he would be willing to call him and ask him some questions so that i don't have to waste my time and money on another idiot. and he did it and it looks pretty good so far. so i'm going to meet with this new pdoc on monday. but thanks for the good advice because i'm glad my therapist was able to feel this guy out before i got there.

Terra, I think it's great that you dumped the loser and are taking good enough care of yourself to check out potential pdocs.

Kiddo is the master at interviewing pdocs, and if she's anywhere around I'll bet she could share some sage advice.

I just always look for one that doesn't scare me. And I lucked out with my latest one. :)

That's great! (and look at all the time and emotion you saved) My therapist told me that people who have been victims of trauma at a young age are a master of reading people- their body language, whether they are lying or angry, etc. I know it is true in my case, and I have learned to trust those instincts- and I think you need to trust yours. The only time I've been wrong is when I'm triggered by someone- and then it's really obvious what happened. take care, judy

saw new pdoc today. seemed nice enough. but off the bat he told me that if i needed hospital care that he wouldn't be able to take care of that and would have to let some other pdoc do that. well, this was the whole reason why i went to see him in the first place.. because if i ever went into crisis i wanted to have a pdoc that i know and trust be there. ugh. but he was nice enough to tell me that he wouldn't charge me for our time (this all came out in less than 5 minutes), which i think is very generous... he should/could have charged me for that whole time since it was already scheduled and stuff. but he said that he wouldn't charge me. thank goodness for that. so, i'm back to the drawing board. but i'm glad that i at least ran into a gracious man this time.

it's discouraging. i think deep inside i'm waiting for all my safety nets to be in place before i go the next level in my therapy process.

Terra,

I cannot even begin to thank you for the courage you show in what you share on this board......my e-mail addy is over in PB open and I would love to ask you some more in depth questions as well as get into the old (ancient) thing about inner thermostat and wellbutrin stuff.

I admire your ability to share so much of what your path takes you through. Blessings for your courage Terra.

with gratitude,

alii

Sorry this one didn't work out, but you are right. It's best that he came straight out and told you and it's great that he didn't charge you.

Maybe next one will be a keeper.

hi. i forget what PB open is/how to get there, etc. i don't usually do the email-thing. (i forget to check it, for one. and i like the safety that i feel writing on a board or in a chat.) i am wondering if you would want to post a question under another nicname. i wouldn't know it was you, nor would anybody else so you could maintain a greater anonymity? the other option is if PB has a chat. i have to do something here on my computer to get my programming (however it works) to let me chat (something went down lots of months ago and i just never got around to figuring out what to do/enable.)
