Hi all...how much should I worry about what diagnosis I have?? Two or three docs have said I have bipolar 2..my new doc says adhd...I think it's a big deal b/c I need to know what I have in order to treat it. also, I am trying to get onto disability (something I have struggled with for the past two years, but I now know I need) and a clear dx is needed. Should I push it w/ my doc?

Dear Emily Ann,

I found this information useful:

http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/20020222/msgs/95587.html

See if it helps you sort out your diagnosis. Note that it is possible to have both illnesses simultaneously, but most of us are more one than the other.

With regards to getting on disability, if you haven't already, it is very important to consult with a specialist attorney from the very beginning. The SSI system in the United States strives effectively to make obtaining disability benefits so difficult that most applicants never succeed, unless they have expert advice and advocacy in the process.

Best wishes,

Mark H.
