I really like reading/posting here.
Also, I noticed in the past when dating, that I liked only guys who had had some hardship in their lives. It seemed that most men were so shallow. They'd had it too easy.
Similarly my best female friends always turn out to have something going on. I would think at the beginning they were completely in control, easy going, never had it rough, etc. Never true for the women who turn out to be my closest friends.
It just seems like people who've never had adversity are shallow and boring.
Is that really true or do I not let myself get to know people who've always been completely healthy, for some psychological reason of my own? Like that I need to be needed. Or that I am insecure that my own issues won't be ok or something? Or just can't identify with health?
I'm curious what others experiences are?

I agree- people with issues are much more interesting. And I get the feeling you are a very supportive person, you probably enjoy helping people and accept them- and people with issues can sense that. Take care, judy

Beardy, you bring up an excellent subject, LOL.
Can one judge a therapist by their choice of tissue? I think so. If they've never experienced their own tissues, they're not really going to be there for you.
Has a therapist ever offered you the box of tissues too soon? or not at all? There seems to be a complicated timing effect on the utility of tissue-offering.

My therapist showed me the tissue box on the first visit while I was sobbing. I was talking and sobbing so much that he couldn't stop me to say something, so he kind of gestured to it. (He also couldn't reach it, as it was on a table next to me.)

i have used the last one before, and then been back and not had a new box there and i teased my t. to death that he must not make very many people cry if he hadn't replaced the box!
some people are good with some details and oblivious to others.
i took him a box the next session as a joke, which he immediately put to good use!
i figure it's a "guy" thing. maybe they don't even know that there exists tissues "with lotion" as opposed to the industrial-strength kind!

My therapist keeps the tissue box out of reach so she has to hand it to me. I think it's on purpose so there can be a little caring moment between us. Awww...
The bad thing is the tissues shred and I come out of there with little flecks of tissue all over my face. The other day I was thinking, wouldn't it be nice if she handed me a nice linen handkerchief instead?

The lotion is sort of greasy, and I feel like a have a film on my face when I use one. I am a fan of Puffs.
