Androgel---it did not work? What;'s wrong

Posted by hitman60 on February 1, 2009, at 7:14:53

I am 61 years old, was feeling anxious and depressed, no sex drive and Primary Care recommended Androgel as my testosterone level was about 240..After 4 months of the gel, it has only gone up to 264 taking 2.5 a day. I have made an appt with him, but was wondering if this non- response has happened to anyone else. I do not feel as anxious but that could be the Wellbutrin XL which was also prescribed by a shrink..Do I need a different med?

You may want to try the 5 mg pack. 2.5 may just not be enough. You also need a doctor who measures estradiol.Sometimes men have low T because to much of their testosterone gets converted to estradiol.Sometimes a low dose of a drug such as arimidex which prevents that conversion is enough to fix the problem.
