Thanks for your lovely post.
Coming back to PB feels like a different country since I was banned.

I escaped to the ocean for a few days.
We set up our viewing scope and travel chairs and sat on a rocky shore named Andrews Point on the east coast.
The wind was gusting up to 50mph.
The tops of the heaving navy blue waves would get caught in a horizontal blast of wind.
Rays from the sun created a deep hue of orange in the waves mist.
This area has large blond rocks where we sat protected from the wind.
The waves and rounded clouds were racing to meet at the eastern horizon.
A lone sail boat listed dangerously as it rounded the point. Being such a small boat, occasionally we would lose sight of it within the waves.

There were a few harbor seals bobbing and diving in the water close to shore.
We saw a large group of Common Eiders (50+), Black Scoters and one Surf Scoter. Numerous Gulls.

But the sky was filled with Northern Gannets.
This is a large bird, L 37" ws (wings span) 72" WT 6.6lbs that is found over open ocean often close to shore and in loose groups. It often rests on water but virtually never rests on land away from nest site.
The Northern Gannet is/was migrating.
There were juveniles, 2nd & 3rd year but mostly adults.
They would dive into the water after fish.
We saw about a thousand of them. A few of them flew right over our heads.
It was glorious.

I think we should let Joe go
In the ocean off the east coast.
(It won't be too cold for him dya think?)
Then he will be safe from too much love
and food.
He can swim around
And find some friends of his own kind
And who knows how big he'll get
In that big fish bowl.

I promise I'll do my best to visit him.
I'll look out over the sea
at all those strange birds
And I'll think of Joe, Jai's gift to me.
And Jai, gods gift to the world.

Take care.
