Is there a DOPAMINE Natural Enhancer?

Posted by neo on November 3, 2006, at 17:40:52

Cause I can't use anymore dopamine classic increaser, I was asking if there a natural supplement (herbal or other) that stimulate and enhance the level of dopamine.
Anyone could help or share experience?
Many thanks in advance!

I think St john wort may increase dopamine, also what about increasing your amino acid l-tyrisone intake also increasing b6 would help

omega-3 fish oil can increase dopamine, as can quercetin. quercetin acts as an MAO inhibitor, so it increases serotonin and noradrenaline too.

i don't know if there's an dopamine booster that doesn't increase noradrenaline as well, which could be bad news if you are concerned about insomnia.

tyrosine!

its great. It made me more chatty, outgoing, more energy..... its a direct precursor to dopamine. Take 1000mg on an empty stomach first thing.

I'm not sure why I'm not taking some now in fact...I could sure do with it! I expect it feels like cocaine abit, although I've never tried that.

Yeah give it a go, its an amino acid, so not strictly a drug and it clears out of your system fast. Look it up on wikipedia or something.

Many Thanks to you all for your shares!
In particular, Meri, tell me more about TYROSINE, if you have an experience or knowledge to share about it!
I've never heard it before, but I think Tyrosine hasn't anything to do with L-TYROXINE, the Tyroid Hormon, don't you?
Thanks in advance for your help!!
Neo.

wikipedia says:

"Tyrosine is also precursor to the thyroid hormones thyroxine and triiodothyronine, the pigment melanin, and the biologically-active catecholamines dopamine, norepinephrine and epinephrine."

caffeine boosts dopamine and epinephrine.

from wikipedia:
"The principal mode of action of caffeine is as an antagonist of adenosine receptors in the brain...The reduction in adenosine activity results in increased activity of the neurotransmitter dopamine, largely accounting for the stimulatory effects of caffeine. Caffeine can also increase levels of epinephrine/adrenaline,[48] possibly via a different mechanism."

Yes, I found NADH to do that. Also rhodiola, deprenyl and Hydergine.

Mucuna Pruriens. This stuff is serious and contains raw l-dopa which is the immediate precursor to dopamine. I would be careful taking this stuff as it might keep your brain from producing as much of the stuff.

Other than that Fish Oil is supposed to be the next best then DLPA or Tyrosine

Tyrosine.

Tyrosine is an amino acid that converts directly to dopamine and takes effect real fast. Every time I've tried it I got immediate antidepressant effects, more talkative, more active, more confident.

I'm in a lot of trouble right now and may rely on it once again to pull me through some hard times. I've never used it longterm because it always seemed to start pooping out after a few days, though maybe I should have just increased the dose, but it sure works good for the short term.

Try 500mg to 1000mg in the morning. It works best on an empty stomach. To soften it a little bit you take it with food. You can take another dose for the afternoon. Two or three doses per day.

Many thanks blueberry for your share!
Few more questions:
Did you have any side effects while you was takeing Tyrosine (f.e. insomnia,dizzyness,etc...)?
After how many days did it stopped working? Haven't you tryed to stop a little time (for few days, for example) and than re-start to take it?
Thanks very much in advance for your help!
neo.
