Something for fatigue/brain fog???

Posted by ewm12 on March 17, 2006, at 19:23:30

I'm desperate for some feedback/opinions on what to try for lack of energy and brain fog. Much as I've hated ADs, I'm near tears, almost ready to throw in the towel and go back on them despite bad experiences with Effexxor, wellbutrin and lexapro. I've been off everything since late October. I've had ups and downs. I was taking 150 5htp and the typical dose of SJW with some success. Recently added fish oil and Vit B, among a few other things. But, the last month, I've been a zoombie. So, I just cut out 5 htp and SJW, thinking they were too sedating. Is L tyrosine worth a try? Has anyone looked into having hormones tested and had success with that? I also have been doing light therapy--this worked initially--now I can't say.

I can think of things that clarify your mind, but not in a particularly nice way. Piracetam/pramiracetam and all the others, and other things that might affect Ach like centrophenoxine. They work in that way with me, but I'm better off without them. They make me feel cold and unpleasant.

It's easy enough to find things that increase energy in a nice way, but you might find, as I have, that the sleep disturbance is hardly worth it. In this category I'd put interesting things like Rhodiola, Hydergine, and deprenyl.

What about vinpocetine? It doesn't make me feel awful (I don't think) and it does make everything clearer, including vision. Still, I don't like it as much as Hydergine (dose>10mg/d sublingual). But that made my sinuses worse and also my insomnia.

Goodluck and tell us if you find anything.

if you have brain fog and are tied. you should if you havnt already run down to the doctors and demand a thyroid blood test straight away. and if it comes back positive i think you will suffer no more. plus thyroid medication has no side effects. i had serious brain fog and i mean serious. once i started the medication about 2 months later the brain fog began to disappear and now about 4 months into it im almost crystal clear. but i have been looking after myself aswell. no drinking or smoking and eating very healthy.

if you have brain fog and are tied go and have your thyroid tested today. if it comes back positive then it should fix your priblem permanently. all it takes is thyroid medication and it has no side effects. its a natural hormone.

I know you are enthusiastic about your recent health improvements, but what you say is incomplete, at least. Thyroid hormone is not devoid of side effects, for most people. Just because you didn't get side effects from it, that is not evidence that others will not.

Arsenic is natural. Your body does need some (believe it or not). It is found in at least two enzymes, in the active site. It is essential, but it quite naturally will drop you dead, if you get too much. Thyroid hormone is definitely natural, but that is not the only criterion to consider. Natural is not synonymous with safe. They do not mean the same thing.
