Might help. Might not. No way to know. Trial and error is the only way.

A possible problem is that some of those serotonin receptors were blocked by risperdal, so even just regular amounts of serotonin introduced to them being unblocked will cause them to friek out, and that is probably part of the withdrawals. Introducing even more serotonin, hmmm, don't know.

I think the best thing to do is take miniscule amounts of risperdal and wean slower. Other supplements that work on calming you down might be better, like magnesium glycinate perhaps. Really don't know. I have just always found in my own trials and failures that slow weaning down in small steps has been the best way to go. The agony is prolonged that way, but the agony is much milder.

this will prob be redirected - but i took one 50 mg 5-htp two days ago and it made me feel like i had just smoked a joint ALL DAY.

but now am wondering - maybe it would offset the panic from the WB XL i took for first time today.

anyone know if you can take 5htp w/ WB?

I tried 5-htp a year ago and it made me have serious jerking movements in my sleep. I had to quit taking it.

Other than feeling sleepy, I never noticed it's effects (but then again, I wasn't depressed).

Hi

I have often taken 5-HTP for withdrawal from a serotonergic antidepressant, and it helps LOADS, but its pretty brief. I cant say if it would help with risperal, is'nt it an antipsychotic?

Still, if you do try it, for short term use you only need 50 or 100mg/day tops. Higher doses (200 -300mg & above) are more for longer term treatment but I found it ineffective in the long term.

Hope you feel better soon.

Yes definitely, if you're feeling depreesed. You may also whish to try it at higher doses over the long term - it didnt help me much in the long term but it does seem to help some. But try it at 50 - 100mg first. Ideally don't take it in the morning, stick to afternoon (best) and/or bedtime (good for sleep). If taken in the morning it can make you a bit tired/groggy.

Regards, Kev.
