and

It depends on one's individual metabolic pathways what happens.
I wouldn't be taking any extra B6 anywhere near 5HTP personally..like 12 hrs apart?

I think Lar commented on this before..maybe you could try a google search on the site?

Hope this helps a little

I have e-mailed Dave Pearce, (biopsychiatry is his web-site) and he is convinced that 5htp is perfectly safe (if that helps you at all).

(BTW, if you don't already know, Larry is on vacation until the 13th, though he does post occasionally now, and Chemist has been blocked for a couple of weeks. He should be back around the same time as Larry.)

I believe that Larry has commented on this before. Try doing a search of his "oldies but goodies."

If your concern is the safety of 5-HTP, then go ahead and use it. I once bought into the concerns raised by a particular medical doctor, about the possibility of systemic adverse effects akin to those seen in the rare cancer called a hind-gut carcinoid (thus, carcinoid syndrome), or even the abnormal heart valve growth seen with the phen-fen diet combination of the '80s......but I no longer believe the typical therapuetic dose is sufficient to lead to adverse effects. There is also no link to the "peak-X" toxic syndrome (eosinophilia myalgia syndrome), once associated with contaminated tryptophan.

5-HTP is safe, if used as directed.

Seems to me that's an individual characteristic. You gotta do the experiment(s).
