After seeing Larry take the fall for several other posters and getting blocked on several occasions, I think Larry's only mistake is in returning to this board. I would like him to return for selfish reasons. But if I am to think about what might be best for him (isn't that arrogant -- Sarah presuming to know what's best for Larry?), I'd say, "Larry, don't waste any more of your life on the message boards. As I said over on 'Social' (I think that's where I said it), Larry, you should go to medical school. Eventually, you'll get the recognition and remuneration you deserve instead of the abuse you get on Internet message boards, several of which are nothing more than huge dysfunctional families."

I am in no way am questioning the basic idea of civility here in babbleland. I appreciate the fact you are discouraging posters from being intentionally hurtful.The problem I do have is the way in which civility is allowed to be manipulated seamlessly while truth is pushed aside. I do not see how this is being supportive at all.
Another problem I have would be that your enforcement of these almighty civility rules seem to be based on, as far as I am able to tell, is whether or not you’ve been laid recently.

I think Larry should receive a PBC instead of a block on the grounds that it was the first time Larry used someone else's quote in an uncivil way.
I'm guessing Larry had never used someone else's quote in this way before. You usually give PBCs to people who break a certain rule for the first time.

As I stated in my thread on social before it was redirected, I do not agree that the chosen words were 'civil' words. However, a pbc would have been much more effective as Larry had been trying to HELP Deneb. IMO 6 weeks is unjust but I am not gonna change your mind and you are not going to change mine. I see your view and accept it as that but it seems to me that the same things are being said, just using different phrasing. People see things differently and apparently this is one of them. We don't agree~okay....

Well,
I think Larry said that trying to help was making him sick, not that the poster herself was making him sick - there's a difference. And the poster herself used the word 'manipulative' to describe her behaviors (more than once...many times in many different posts), so it doesn't seem unreasonable that one could agree and start to use the word, too.So in that sense, yes, I do think that in this circumstance it should be allowable to say those things.
I mean, what if someone really DOES feel sick after trying to help a poster over and over and over again, without results? Why should that person NOT be able to say it? I know it's on the "harsh" side of the "harsh" / "happy" line, but it's a real, honest emotion.
Could the other person perhaps learn from it - learn how their behaviors affect others? Especially if that person has continually asked how others feel about them and their behaviors?
That's my $0.02!
