That would be great Mel. I could give you my cell number just so you could distinguish me from that other guy who calls with the breathing thing. : )

At least for dinner on Friday. I'm not sure about the Saturday activities, though, because it is kind of a busy weekend for me.

Thanks for posting that, emmy! I'm still having trouble and I can't access most of the babble pages at home. And at work, my babble time is limited. :(

If I change my mind at the last minute, I'll likely be driving in at that time. I'll have to let y'all know if I can make dinner or not...assuming I can come.

Still deciding. I have to be extra diligent this week. Wish me luck.

All Done -

That's GREAT NEWS!!!

Were you able to access your babblemail and get the needed information? Please post or babblemail me (whatever is easier) if you still need where and when to go on Friday night.

I can't wait to meet you and everyone else.

We'll all be crossing our fingers, toes and hairs on our heads. I'm sure we'll be hanging out there for quite awhile.

Good Luck with your work load. May & June is always crunch time for me too. However, my college help has arrived and they want to work more hours!! HOORAY!

Spoc, you sound like someone with a love of and appreciation for the city. :)

If someone were coming to my city, my instructions would be full of "Whatever you do, don't..." or "Avoid..." or "Make sure you bring plenty of... because..."

I like your enthusiasm better. :)

I hope to see you there.

I'm getting scared myself. I'm starting to have a flareup of OCD. Sigh.

But I'm looking forward to it.

Should I be all CBT and label my anxiety as excitement?

If you've found one at reasonable, you've done better than me. All I found is exorbitant, even with no ability to cancel. :(

It certainly gives me incentive not to chicken out.

Can we count you as probable?

So that makes those who have posted that they are definitely coming:

Partly Cloudy
Poet
Dinah
Fallsfall
Auntie Mel
Annierose
All Done
Toph

And possibly coming: (fingers, toes, and eyes crossed)

Rainbowbrite
Gardenergirl
Spoc

Happyflower, were you a possibly coming?

Sorry again if I've missed someone. And if I've got the category wrong, let me know.

I guess Dr. Bob wants this to be small and intimate. :) I'll quit nagging him.

A hotel lobby or a restaurant?

Dinah, I don't believe you really look like a wart hog. I'll try to post what I'm wearing closer to the date, but otherwise I'll be the one having a major social anxiety attack heading towards a bar.

Well, *that*'s no help. Unless we all identify each other by being the ones having a major social anxiety attack. :D I'm already anxious.

Did you get Dr. Bob's invite to the Yahoo group? Or Annierose's email?

Our office practices "casual Friday," so if I'm coming directly from work I'll be wearing jeans.

Yes, you can count me as probable, Ive upgraded myself to a 65%. If I dont show up just look for the girl dressed for a masquerade :-) It may be me.
I dont have anything confirmed as of yet but Im working on it.

Every day is casual day for me. If jeans don't work, I'll have to do some major shopping. The few dress things I own don't fit anymore.

Scratch the shopping. I've found that most places are happy to take my money no matter what I'm wearing.

Here is a list organized *roughly* by the areas of downtown Chicago that would be most feasible for attendees to stay in (contains no price clues though, beyond spotting the identifiable economy ones). Disclaimers: this probably isn't all of the feasible ones; and some may not still be there or have changed names. But if so, the new name for it is probably listed too. Also may be repeats, like if the location is somewhere that kinda could fit in two categories. Maybe this will help at least, if you Google them or as a reference while you use the hotel sites to see how much they are and get contact info (not all of these are listed on each of the major hotel sites).

For my purposes here I picked "Convenience Ground Zero" to be the heart of the Mag Mile, around Water Tower Place or the river at Wacker. You couldn't go very wrong with any of the following. Loop ones would be farthest away (well, closest of all if Millenium Park was Ground Zero!), but none are bad. About 15 min. walk, or a quick, few buck cab ride (also there are bus stops every block, for buses that go straight up and down Mich Ave all day and night). Best zip codes to stick within are 60611, 60610, and maybe 60605. A suggestion would be, when you find something you think is suitable, pull up a Yahoo or other online map and enter the address of it. You should be able to get a good idea how far away from ground zero it is. Between about 400 N. and 900 N., and within about 6 blocks east or west of N. Michigan, is probably a decent guideline.

GOLD COAST (Ranges from 5 to 10 min walk to Mag Mile):
Ambassador West Hotel / Omni Ambassador East Hotel / The Talbott Hotel / Claridge Hotel / Sutton Place / Hotel Sofitel / Tremont / Seneca

On or almost on MAG MILE:
Four Seasons Hotel / Hotel Inter-Continental / The Westin, N. Michigan Avenue / Marriott Courtyard, Ontario St./ The Drake / Hotel 71 / Lenox Suites / Club Quarters, E. Wacker / WhiteHall / Fitzpatrick / Park Hyatt / Omni Mich Ave / Marriott, N. Mich Ave / Hyatt, Wacker St. / Le Meridien

STREETERVILLE (next closest to Mag Mile):
Doubletree Guest Suites, Delaware Place / Holiday Inn Chicago City Centre, E. Ohio St. / Radisson Hotel & Suites / Millenium Knickerbocker Hotel / Sheraton Hotel & Towers, N. Water St. / Wyndham, St. Clair St. / Residence Inn Marriott, Walton St. / W Hotel, N. Lake Shore / Comfort Inn, Ohio St. / Embassy Suites, N. Columbus St.

RIVER NORTH (varies! Most from 5 to 15 min walk):
Best Western River North, Ohio St. / Cass Hotel / Embassy Suites, N. State St. / Holiday Inn Chicago Mart, N. Orleans / Howard Johnson Inn / Ohio House Motel / The Westin River North, Dearborn St. / Red Roof / Homewood Suites / Raphael / Hampton Inn / Amalfi / House of Blues Loews hotel / Renaissance / Hard Rock Hotel / Hilton Garden, Grand St. / Courtyard Marriott, Hubbard St. /

LOOP (most approx. 15 min. walk):
Hotel Allegro / Hotel Burnham / Crowne Plaza Hotel / Executive Plaza Hotel / The Fairmont Hotel / Monaco Hotel / The Palmer House Hilton / Renaissance Hotel / Swissôtel Chicago / W Chicago City Center Hotel, Adams St. / Oakwood at North Harbor Tower / Club Quarters, Adams St. / Congress Hotel / (Hyatt Regency McCormick Place is probably too far)
