I suppose if it was offensive that I pointed out that I found the lines about inhaling a missing cat darkly humorous in an otherwise serious and painful piece, I apologize. I won't apologize for finding it funny though, life is painful and funny simultaneously, it just didn't occur to me that prose shouldn't be.

I have a fascination with things that disappear.
One minute they are whole the next they are gone.
My art revolves around that magical, mysterious fact.

Imagine everything you own gone in an afternoon.
The tenants stood watching their possessions go up in smoke.
My mind asks "how is that possible?"

I am not offended by you seeing humor in my piece.
I chuckled when you pointed it out in your comment.

This should be on writing, but oh well,

Yes, the first time I read it, I saw it as just plain funny, but the next day, I thought about it more which is what good writing does, and then it became more poignant, all these important things.. vaporized, as you said.
It was brilliant though, I think, really brilliant that it could go from absurd to mystical to melancholy that one paragraph.

But thank you so much for letting me know that you weren't suprised, or offended that I found it darkly comical.

I'm very sorry to hear that, Jai. I hope you are doing okay.

> Dr. Bob I am so sorry if my little story has offended you.

Perhaps it did.

> so All Done....
> I am so sorry if it hurt your feelings.

You didn't hurt my feelings. And I don't want you to be unhappy. I just thought there might have been the potential to hurt another's feelings. Had it been written about me, my own history would have made your words hurt and since I don't know Dr. Bob's history, well...let me stop there.

BTW, my T tells me I tend to try and mother him. I think I do this with many people. Maybe unfortunately for Dr. Bob, he was my latest "offspring" :).

Thanks for the nice post, Jai. I know you didn't mean any harm.

OK, let's give this a try. It should be working now. Sorry about all the testing I had to do... To turn it off, there's a new setting:

Any questions? I hope this helps!

Heh heh, Im guessing that wasn't suppposed to happen.

>If automatic asterisking is turned on (which is the default) and isn't bypassed, your posts won't be considered by Dr. Bob to use language that could offend others.

But couldn't some language be inappropriate in certain contexts? Or do you think that it is covered so that it will go the other way and there will be unnecessary asterisking instead?

Um. My only worry with this is that it seems to pretty much be a lisence to swear and it is ok, the asterisking system will deal with it. This may lead to an increase in the ammount of swearing that goes on.

I know that I personally have become more lax (though am pretty good at asterisking) with my language since it became clear to me that I wasn't going to get blocked for it. But I think that is a bit of a shame...

I am going to try to tone it down from now on.

Oops!

Sure, it wouldn't be civil to call someone stupid, for example, even though that isn't considered language that could offend others. That's why I included a reminder:

So are 'damn' and 'bugger' allowed then?
I shall continue asterisking them regardless...

> Sure, it wouldn't be civil to call someone stupid, for example, even though that isn't considered language that could offend others.

Yeah, I saw the reminder. I guess I was just thinking that while 'bugger' may be allowed 'go bugger yourself' just isn't nice - and it isn't nice in virtue of the word 'bugger'. Yeah, ok I see how it is the same thing...

But then the following is simply false. Or meaningless given the qualification that follows.

I was thinking it would be used instead. I agree, not getting to know people as well would in fact be a disadvantage. Crying wolf ("overdoing it") came up before:
