Lou as deputy moderator

Posted by Lou Pilder on September 5, 2004, at 10:14:09

Friends,
It is my understanding that the deputy moderator , Dinah, has taken a leave from her position as deputy here. It is also my understanding that there was a call for others to nominate themselves to replace that vacancy.
I am accepting the offer to be a deputy moderator here but only if I am elected. I am asking you to post your vote, one way or the othere here to see if there are enough people here that would cast their vote for me.

I suspect, in the end, there is only one person's opinion that matters.

Larry,
You wrote,[...in the end... it is one person's opinion that matters...].
Are you saying that there is already an opiniion determined by one person? If so, do you know what that opinion is?

I meant it all depends on Dr. Bob. Ask him.

Larry,
I would not want to request an administrative position for I feel that those type of positions would be better filled by those elected by the members of the community rather than being appointed.
Do you have an opinion as to if you would or would not vote for me to be a deputy moderator? If so, could you state such?

I do not have an opinion. I don't know you well enough to form one.

Lou,

Since you were blocked from Psychobabble for such a long time (was it nearly a year?), I think it might be best for you to remain a PB reader and poster (and NOT a deputy) for a while so that you can ease back into the group, and Dr. Bob can see how you're doing. I don't remember all the details or reasons for your long block, but I'm assuming there must have been multiple PBC's from Dr. Bob over a very long time. If you were blocked because you broke the rules many times, then I think it would be awkward for you to be in a position of moderating others so soon after your return.

soon. Why are you going so soon?
You raised good questions and won't stick around to hear the responses or questions?
Why are you in such a hurry?
Whats the rush?
Can you slow down and give us some time to respond?
Maybe we need time to sift and think.
I like the luxury of time.
What what what?
What's your hurry.....going some where?
s...l...o...w......d....o...w...n
please......
or is that too much to ask?

Jai,
You wrote,[...can you slow down?....].
Well, BPD is part of my self. Thanks for pointing that out. But this "hurry" is part of the condition and it has a good side and an adverse side.
I try to overcome this but at times there is great accelleration and it takes a while to s..l..o..w....d..o..w..n.
Psychiatrists call it,"pressure of speech?"
Perhaps this manifistation of BPD will disappear from me someday. In the meantime, I will think about your observation and see if that could help me to deal with it.
Thanks for you observation.

I don't expect a deputy to be perfect. They are humans. I don't know the criteria for being one. Is one of the criteria to have no hx of PBC and blocks? I don't know you Lou, so I don't know the nature of your previous blocks.

I understand it's not a matter of democracy, though; nor of our diagnoses. When I fall apart I wonder how effective someone like me would be - but if there are three of us, we'd have 3 times the chance of being effective.

Ok, I'll jump in, too. If Dr. Bob thinks it's ok. If not, I'll understand.

Take care and be well.
