Depression post-abstinance

Posted by amd on September 2, 2022, at 7:38:08

I'm trying to get sober finally -- it's been about five days now. Feeling tired constantly, depressed, and can't focus, even read. How long does this last? Will my mind clear up at some point soon, because this is almost worse than I felt drinking and using cocaine. It sucks. I'm miserable and feel pretty hopeless.

hi. especially when dealing with stimulant use, low mood without any stimulants is...normal. very, very, very normal.

sometimes sedatives are used. benzodiazepines, gabapentin, that kind of thing. I'd avoid sedating antipsychotics.

supplements...in addition to just stuff that helps, all around -- antioxidants, vitamins, minerals -- maybe DL phenylalanine? mildly stimulating amino acid, sometimes used in add/adhd and depression.

good luck.

Try some ginger root and/or agmatine.

5 days is HUGE. Good work.

I don't have any personal experience with what you have been challenged with. I would not be surprised if mood alterations and cognitive "brain-fog" were components of an alcohol withdrawal syndrome. I think you should search elsewhere on the Internet for answers to your questions.

I'm going to find a website that should be helpful.

Later...

Ok... first move, a detox center. Is that possible? You can't do this alone! Second, get into a medical rehab program.
Are these options available to you?

Jay
p.s. there is hope. You are past the first move of actually coming clean! Please get back when you can.

let your doctor know about brain fog, and tell what your experiening. Use herbal smart drugs to bring back nuerotrnamitter depletion, most synthetic medications cannot restore depleted nuerotransmitters, or damaged sites. I'll look up supplements, because yes there are natural supplements that can repair dmaged neurotransmitter sites. But till then, i don't know, coffee, get some caffeine, and look to faith in higher power like god, that you would pray for healing. Don't want to propose any religion, or offending things, but god, jesus christ can heal illness, and damage sectors through prayer with other people. But, stick with caffeine, and wait, talk to your doctor, i'll try to find smart supplements to help with brain repair and neurotransmitters. Be back soon

Hi.

I think Jay has given you good advice. Utilizing professionals trained in alcohol discontinuation and successful abstinence sounds pretty good to me. Use all of the resources available to you.
