Hello there,

do you have continued success with Rybelsus? Does it help mood at all? There are rumors that Metformin does that. If I switch to Rybelsus, I wouldn't want mood to worsen.

Metformin does a number on Testosterone levels, that is my primary motivation. And maybe Rybelsus is more effective than Metformin in keeping the pounds off?

Yes! I'm doing amazing on it still. I'm down from 233lbs (March 12, 2021) to 194.9 (today: July 23, 2021).

I said it before, but I've had very little luck losing weight on my meds - the trend has always been upward.

I spent a month on the titrating does (3mg) which I still lost 5-10lbs on, then a couple months on the lower dose (7mg), and I've finally gone up to the max dose of 14mg for the past couple of months. Haven't been exercising at all nor have I (consciously) changed my diet - although I tend to not want to eat much and make better choices.

There's a good facebook group for Rybelsus & weight loss here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/2846475428800018

I'm not sure about mood w/ Rybelsus to be honest. It hasn't hurt, and there are studies on pubmed that show there are GLP-1 receptors in the brain, but I haven't noticed a difference one way or another. I think it should help brain metabolism and of course weight loss helps the body overall. All I can say is search pubmed for GLP-1 and maybe there's some preliminary research on that.

Fatigue is an issue some people complain about in that group. My other meds tend to do that also, so I can't really comment. I don't think I'm any more tired than I was before (after the initial week after dose increases). The nausea, which is the most common complaint, went away for me very quickly. I just eat a ton less and feel full when I'm interested in eating anything.

I'd definitely recommend it, and it's not contradicted w/ Metformin, btw. Your doctor might be weary about that, but maybe a low-dose of Met (500-1000) would be something they'd consider.

My current cocktail:
-
Marplan 50
Lamictal 200
Seroquel 25
