Saphris a Miracle Godsent medicine? Day 4

Posted by Jeroen on December 3, 2018, at 13:10:08

Everything is getting better Day by Day after 20 years of depression and psychosis...

Its the second AP i respond to after more then a decade.... Day 4 on Saphris

My main concern is the once a Day dosing of 5 mg at bedtime. My pdoc said it is ok because it builds up as an agent in the body.

Please advice

hi Ed, I've read Saphris is a 3rd generation anti psychotic the way it works,

I've read stuff like if you cannot tolerate first generation or second generation AP, Saphris might be worth a shot, if you tried em all like the new Clozapine.. to treat psychosis.

my pdoc prescribed 5 mg at night to start.

cool. I may give this a shot some day. Its not approved for postive Symptoms over here in Germany. Just for mania. Thats why it wasnt prescribed to me in the past. Go figure.

Hi Lamdage22, no heavy sedation with Saphris like seroquel except for a good night sleep and wake up fresh.

It wasnt prescribed to me for 10 years for the same reasons you mentioned

Its still always a gamble though. I am very protective of my considerably improved state of mind. I dont want to ruin it with a drug trial!

Yeah those positive symptoms can result in negative ones! No positive symptoms = less negative!

I had psychotic manic reactions to antidepressants a few times. After the psychosis dissipated, and I realized what I had said and done, I was hugely embarrassed. It took me awhile to get over it.

When I was in a partial hospitalization program, I became acquainted with people who had schizophrenia. It was difficult to watch them suffer so much with positive symptoms and disorganized thoughts and speech. They were remarkably resilient, though, and deserved better than what they were given to work with. Paranoia is sad as well. I spent a lot of time with one woman who was scared to death that she was surrounded by witches. She was worried that I might be one. It felt good to be able to convince her that witches didn't really exist and that there was no reason to be scared. It was no easy task. However, she was greatly relieved and was able to function for the rest of the day without fear. Of course, I had to repeat the process the next day. I considered it time well-spent.

Me too, Scott. I recently contacted a past classmate and he wants nothing to do with me. They think what I did in Psychosis is my personality!
