Lithium sleep fragmentation

Posted by linkadge on August 11, 2016, at 21:10:53

I like lithium, but it seems that my sleep has become incredibly fragmented since starting it.

Has anyone noticed this as a side effect from lithium?

i researched some of that on google, something with lithium effects slow wave sleep and induces it, maybe it changes the sleep ... and causes more awakenings at night

I don't notice waking up but I do seem more fatigued in a way consistent with poor sleep. I already had fatigue but it's worse since adding lithium (currently at 600mg)

what dosage are you taking? and what type of sleep disruption do you notice?

I am only taking 300mg. I have had fragmented sleep for a while, but it seems to have gotten worse since starting lithium a year ago. Basically, on a bad night, I could wake up every 5-20 min.

I don't know if I should perhaps take it in the morning.

Waking up so much sounds really difficult and frustrating.

Yes, it's worth trying moving the lithium to morning. I usually try both morning and evening for all meds to see which seems to minimize side effects.
