Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation

Posted by rjlockhart37 on April 1, 2016, at 23:45:10

i bought a device that's called tDCS, and it's not a heavy shock therapy but it suppost to increase spontanus firing of nuerotransmitters, it's used for depression, that's what it is indicated for......

there's other brain stimulation machines but there more expensive, and really i think this one will help with trouble getting the nuerotransmitters to work, i've been on medication, and the doctor seems to not work, so i just decided to use this device to increase nuerotransmitter levels

has anyone used this before? or heard of it?

I have heard of it, and I am very interested to see how people react to it. I would be very grateful if your were to post your progress.

Thanks.

Good luck!

This Yahoo group is a good place to learn about tDCS. There hasn't been any new activity since last May, but the archives and files contain a lot of valuable information, such as different options for placing the electrodes.

https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/tDCStim/conversations/messages

The foc.us device does tDCS, and also does tACS, tPCS (which may be more effective than tDCS) and tRNS.

You're welcome. Since you already have a tDCS unit in the mail, you might as well try it out for a few weeks before you order a foc.us.

One thing I've read is that with tDCS, instead of just sitting there passively during a session, it might be best to challenge your brain during a session, by playing video games like Tetris or doing math or studying another language.

so....im starting it tommorow, i need to get a battery, and saline solution for the electrodes, they said there's a tingling feeling and lights that you see, part of the electric current....but if this is gonna increase nuerotransmitters to get me in a better mood, that is a goal

but with tDCS there's so many places you can put the electrodes, not just on the forehead, all these sites say that diffrent sections of the brain react diffrent to where the location of the electrodes are, you can put it on the top of your head and on the back, they all have diffrent effects, one for memory improvement, others anxiety reduction, but .... i was doing some reading saying there is a risk it could cause unwanted effects, confusion......so if any negative things start to happen im going to discontinue it

i should of got the focus device, this device only does basic......

With tDCS, you can stimulate one side of the brain while calming the other side, or you can just work on one side of the brain, by wearing the anode (positive) electrode on the left side of the head and the cathode (negative) electrode on the left shoulder, or you can get a calming effect by wearing the cathode on the right side of the head and the anode on the right shoulder.

so.....the device was defective, lol out of all the devices they had, i got the defective one, it won't turn on......so get my money refunded, and maybe look at the focus device

but really in a way, it looks cool, but i'm just having second thoguhts if it would mess up my mind, it's only 2ma or and usally ECT shock is 600-1000, so its mild hardly anything......

i don't really ... even thinking about the shock treatment it messes up your mind, memories can be blurred and feel diffrent, heard that it changes emotions like people's deep feelings are changed

anyways, i may look forward to trying the focus device, but still i don't want to put it on a bad section of my brain and it alters transmission

ill still keep it updated, thanks hugh

did absolutely nothing other than give me weird pain in my molars. (very weird because the unit sticks to your forehead).

Anyway, I sent it back after trying it for a couple weeks

yea they say you have to have sessions, or use it while your working out or doing something like reading, it stimulates the nueral synpase, but still it's not proven to work. I did read it does enhance spontantous firing of serotonin and some dopamine. but yea it could just give people a headache and feel electricity that makes them irrtible

i'm still planning to use it just to see what happens

I'm using it right now as im typing, they sent me another one beecause the other one was defective. It tingles, and it in way burns because of the electricity, but im noticing "some" moderation in mood, but i've only had it on for short time. There's diffrent montages where you put them on your head, forehead, back of you head, and there's the cathode and andode, cathode is negative, andode is postive (stimulant)

my forehead feels really tingly right now, and i can the electricity is being sent to the brain

ill blog after the session is done

ok so....alot of it was feeling tingling and some of it burned, the mood is ... the same, and really the only reason i did this device was to help during times while i was in slump, it did somewhat i felt the electrons going into the brain, but it didnt have any significant effects, just like standing next to a magnet or holding a electric cord while your hands are wet. But a small improvement on mood, for a short time.

i think the sessions have to be a long time, and ... yea there's no immidiate cognitive change. But your a little more alert after you take it off. You have to do it long session for the electic currents to stimulate nuerons, so if you do it everyday, maybe there will be improvement in nueron firing (for someone who lacks it in depression)
