Artane: a magic pill?

Posted by Xtrasensitive on May 29, 2016, at 11:29:05

I am sure most in this board should have experimented Trihexyphenydyl (ARTANE).

Artane is the reason I am still alive. I tried almost all old and new antidepressants without considerable success. But after Doc added Artane 2mg in the mix I transformed into a real man. And that is within a couple of days. It looks like Artane augmenting all the meds I take. Let me elaborate:

Meds I am on: Nuvigil 150mg in the morning, Lexapro 20mg at night, Lyrica 300mg in the evening, Xanax 0.5 mg daily in 4 divided dose, Trileptal 300mg, Solian 100mg, Topamax 50mg once daily along with Deplin...

Now the miracle of Artane. I am taking 2mg TID, and what?

All the meds I take are invigorated especially Nuvigil and Lyrica. I never was this cheerful in my life. I never thought an extremely old fashioned med will do all these dramatic changes...!

Some people do get a mood lift from anticholinergic drugs, usually trihexyphenidyl (Artane), procyclidine or orphenadrine.

Keep the dose as low as possible. High doses tend to cause cognitive impairment and may make you feel worse.

Does Artane make psychosis worse, lamictal induced psychosis mania or anything?

It's possible. When used to treat the side effects of antipsychotics, it can slighly reduce their effectiveness. This is mainly a problem at high doses, so it's not seen as much as it used to be now that few people take very much of it.
