Effexor XR withdrawal / Brintellix

Posted by read my mind on August 18, 2015, at 21:06:37

Have been on ADs for approx. 20 years and at this point my EffexorXR is no longer working. Doc has me cutting my 300 dosage in half and adding 20 mgs of Brintellix. In 2 wks I stop Effexor. Has anyone else gone this route?? This is my third day. Thanks!

No, not from Effexor. Only from one ssri type med to another or completely off. I found that Lyrica greatly reduced any brain zapping etc. I was discontinuing cymbalta without a replacement, an I was surprised that lyrica really helped.

Thanks for the response! I'm new here and am trying to learn my way around. Effexor has always been the only med that worked for me, and now it's not doing the job any more. I've heard horror stories about the wd and about Brintellix. I've read a lot of your posts and I'm so pleased that you took the time.

Brintellix works very well at doses up to 40 mg. I don't think you'll find it as enervating as the effexor.

Again, thanks to both of you! Have been on Brintellix alone for 2 weeks now, and it sure seems to be going well Hope it lasts!
