horrible zyprexa withdrawl

Posted by rjlockhart37 on April 28, 2015, at 20:37:56

its me......listen i have to say, withdrawing from this drug at 20mg is a horror story, i took the lamictal at night to help calm thoughts, zyprexa is not a barbiturate or a benzo but i got tingling feeling through my body, aura feeling, im not exaggerating, i drank alcohol to stop the anxiety, took more lamictal, i think my body has adapted to zyprexa over the years, and when it is stopped after 4-5 days, it is hell, my thoughts, panic attack, and like i said its not a barbiturate, cuzz i know if you stop barbiturates suddenly it result in siezures, mild convulsions.....i don't understand how withdrawling from zyprexa is doing this, for the past 3 days i have been talkative, more energetic, but after 4 days it started having a more drastic change......i took 400mg of the lamictal, at night and then in the morning, and had to take 1 200mg this afternoon, to stop the tingling feeling aura....nearly 800mg lamotragine, i have to take the zyprexa tonight, i will have to slowly reduce olanzipine to get off it, but stopping suddenly after couple days resulted in this.....

the anxiety was unexplainable, and someone i live with ignores during the anxiety, saying im watching spooky movies at night, she is so obvilious i mean that really creates anger, over simplying..... i don't know what happened, its like past couple years things changed and i had to withdrawl from people for the problems because they ignore it......

but im going to have to take the 20mg tonight, i cant risk more withdrawl, maybe take 10 but to end the fire, i have to take the 20....

logging out....

withdrawing from zyprexa is not easy - and probably not easy for the other drugs either.

I had written about some of the things that I had done earlier during withdrawal - may not work for you - hope you will let us know what works for you

im back, i took the zyprexa last night, i woke up normal, the past nights i went without zyprexa i would wake up nervous, or over vigilent, first 2 days was helpful in getting going for the day, after that too much anxiety in waking....

i saw my pdoc i told vaguely about the slowness i have from depression, when i don't take zyprexa i am more energetic but too long withdrawls get bad, the dose has be titrated down, but....

i talked and there doing 2 things, im on deplin now, in the morning, and said Lithium will be replacement for lamictal if it doenst improve know lithium is a mood stablizer ... the oldest mood stablizer, said it was used an antidepressant years ago, but it has along side effects, said if i go out in the sun too long like heat levels could jack up the blood levels.....get blood work done every month, i'm not sure if going to do lithium, but she said in the past, that lithium was one of the first mood medications......

but with that being said, i'm titrating myself down to 10mg at night, cut the pill in half, zyprexa really chills me out, but after years of using it, it started causing me to gain weight, made me slow in cognitive, in some ways get dumber, not joking, everything went into zyprexa ease.......then getting off it is hell.....

but just now, im on the deplin, and if the depression continues she said lithium would may be used, also said that something that deplin is a folic acid drug and helps the systhnisi of nueros, and that lamictal can cause some depression, and that lithium would be replacement

zyprexa is good for emergencies in manic and agitated states, but being used all the time, you gain weight, get slower in cognitive, its a good medication, but if i want to wake up and smell the roses, i need to get off it, not sure if im gonna tell the doctor, just use it PRN......

Hi RJ,

I just wanted to wish you luck with your medication changes. I also wanted to say that I would consider lithium if adding Deplin to your regimen doesn't seem to help with your depression. Lithium, from my understanding, tends to be more anti-depressive than most of the medications that are currently used as mood stabilizers, and it may be particularly useful in helping to prevent suicidal thoughts and/or actions. I would, of course, recommend reading more extensively about lithium before making a decision on it instead of just assuming that what I've written about the medication is correct, but I do think that lithium is a medication worthy of consideration.
