It could be conspiracy crap yes. Have you read stan the mans post on troll posters? Maybe they are causing us to look at ANY conspiracy theory as something for loony toons. I don't think everything is "loony toon" that could be seen as a conspiracy theory.
I always felt that many conspiracy theorists have some valid points, but they are discarded by all the other erratic crap they are saying. It is very hard to filter. It makes me think if these people are indeed "trolls". Sure seems like it could be intended. Who knows.

I think a healthy skepticism is warranted.

I am eliminating everything that could cause me to be unwell. Flouride is on that list so its going in the dumpster for now. I personally know someone who doesn't use fluoride in toothpaste or drinking water for many years. VERY beautiful teeth.

Flouride also makes your teeth appear less white. That is a fact.

See, you have that toothpaste taste in your mouth after brushing, right? After 2 hours its gone.

So there is fluoride being absorbed into your body.

Of course i don't know if and what effects this had on my psyche. But i am going to find out wether or not i need the fluoride. If i don't need it then its not a big pain to eliminate it.

It looks like there are many people that go without fluoride. You just need good dental hygiene.

Flouride has been controversial for decades. Now in the US they have dentists for babies before their teeth even erupt and my Granddaughter just had a cavity filled in her baby tooth molar as she will have the tooth for many years. I used a flouride free toothpaste for years and went back to it when got cavities in crowns or under them. Would be interesting to see what articles are on google. Phillipa

I have a toothpaste with "Hydroxylapatite". It looks like 90% of our enamel is made from this compound. Allegedly the particles are small enough to be taken up by the enamel while brushing.

The paste touts its against sensitive teeth and for whitening.

Sounds good enough. There was a study that compared it to Flouride and it was just as good in preventing tooth decay.

Public drinking water has been fluoridated since the late 60s or so in the US. Zillions of public health studies have been done. There was widespread opposition at first and all kinds of conspiracy theories about big government trying to poison people and on and on. Studies over the years have found no ill effects at all, but a huge reduction in tooth decay. When I was a child (prior to fluoride), I would go to the dentist each year and need 10 or more cavities filled. I didn't eat a lot of sweets. My teeth were just rotten and this was common in my generation. Now this is very rare. My daughter had maybe 5 cavities in her entire life.

Fluoride has virtually eliminated severe problems with tooth decay in the US.

Have you seen that countries that don't put fluoride in their water have seen a reduction in tooth decay as well?

We don't have fluoride in tap water and we don't have more tooth decay than people in the US.

This toothpaste i have is strengthening enamel as well. As good as fluoride apparently. There has been a study.

And it is whitening, not yellowing like fluoride.

Hmm maybe im on the wrong path here and have fallen for a conspiracy theory.

I hate this.

My wisdom teeth have bestowed me 5-6 cavities.

Maybe im too suspicious. A wise man changes his mind.

There is so much contradicting information out there it is often hard to know what to believe. But sure, some people could be more sensitive to negative effects than others. just like how some can't tolerate antidepressants. or some people are allergic to certain things. Surely Fluoride can have negative effects on someone.

but when it comes to tooth decay, I've been reading about something callef Phytic Acid found in foods like whole grains and nuts that can inhibit the absorption of certain minerals. and that this can cause teeth to be more susceptible to decay.

I have cavities. Stemming from rotten wisdom teeth.

I have a Multi-Vitamin, but i am going to check out blood levels of:

Magnesium, Calcium, Kalium, Phosphate, Chlorid, iron, zinc and iodine. Because my Multi Vitamin has only fractions of the full RDA in it.

That way i want to eliminate mineral deficiency being a cause for demineralization. Im not relying (solely) on fluoride to fix it.

I suspect i have deficiencies. I have a cool doc who although doesn't believe all those tests are necessary, he still does them if i pay the lab. Cool cat.

I think so to, fluoride can be problematic. Just like shrinks prescribe psyche meds like sugar pills, dentists use Flouride as a cure-all.

I am still critical.

I have no specific scientific knowledge here, but I do know that dentists regard fluoride like MDs regard antibiotics or biologists regard evolution. They don't see it as an unproven fad. Thousands of studies have been done. Even if your country doesn't fluoridate water, fluoride toothpastes, regular fluoride treatments for children are standard dental practice in all developed countries.

Why do you think fluoride causes mental illness? Have you ever seen a study linking these things?

Yes, a harvard study for children for example. 7 point reduction in IQ in those kids.

It is more of a gut feeling why i am skeptical.

Im not an esoteric person, nor do i believe in any (other) conspiracy theory.

I do however believe that some things are true. For example RDA recommendations. Are they really "ideal" intake dosages or are they the average of healthy people.

You know what i mean? Id like to know and i want to optimize my nutrition with all the vitamins and minerals i need.

Didnt find a product yet that i like.

Im using flouride like crazy now. I still have 3 cavities and 4 rotten wisdom teeth that are being pulled next wednesday.

I dont take the risk of ruining my teeth line.

Doesnt mean i swallow large quantities!

I found this... And then I lost it... But I just found it again.

In "Campbell's Biology" 9th edition page 924 They list Fluorine under 'Mineral Requirements of Humans' (along with Calcium, Phosphorus, Sulfur, Potassium, Chlorine, Sodium, Magnesium, Iron, and Iodine). THen a little asterisk to: 'Additional Minerals are required in trace amounts are chromium, cobalt, copper, manganese, molybdenum, selenium, and zinc. All of these minerals as well as those listed in the table are harmful when consumed in excess'. They say major dietary sources are: 'Drinking water, tea, seafood' that the Major Functions in the Body are 'Maintenance of tooth structure' and that symptoms of deficiency are 'Higher Frequency of tooth decay'.

All that surprised me a great deal... They don't reference anything.

I dont' know what I think about fluoride... All I know is that I had a lot of intermittent trouble with my teeth (to do with pain and inflammation and sometimes infection) and using a small amount of sensodyne toothpaste to brush very gently for a couple minutes seems to be working to prevent that. could be because there is something in sensodyne that kills the nerves for all i know... anyway... less inflammation / infection too so... i guess i'll just keep doing that...
