So i've been on Risperdal now for long enough to know that i dont quite feel it working plus i am only on 37.5 mgs and i feel i am gaining weight or maybe water weight but i dont know.
Anyways it really does help to keep me in check when i am starting to feel irritated with things and or people. Sometimes i think part of my problem is hypoglycemic symptoms without the direct low blood sugar symptoms as these anger bursts i get i can correlate them with not haven eaten in the last few hours but not felt hungry to eat yet symptoms were relieved after a meal. I am prediabetic and i eat very few carbs so mostly low carbs, meats, cheeeses and lots of fats.
Anyways i am now looking to try something different that does not have this weight gain stigma attached to it and i found TRIPLETAL so i am just wondering what others experiences have been with tripletal for mood stablizing..i hope to hear soon something good!

I take 1200/trileptal. High dose for some docs, not so high for others (psychiatry isn't all that scientific). On average, probably high-normal. I also take 100 Lamictal and 30 Abilify.
You have to watch out for low blood sodium (they should do tests now and then), occasionally some kind of rash (but not like the lamictal rash, or so says my shrink), and I think long term most anticonvulsants can mess with your hormones and bone density (?), but trileptal is relatively safe...especially compared to, say, tegretol or Depakote.
Anyway, good for agitation, intense anger; kinda sedating at first, no noticeable effect on weight or appetite. Some drug-drug interactions, but not as bad as a lot of other anticonvulsants.

I am now having a ton of gastric problems which must be caused by risperdal because i do not know what else is doing it? My stomach is distended, acid reflux and my stomach hurts alot...going to talk to Dr. to switch to tripletal..
