Long Term Exercise For Insomnia

Posted by babbler20 on May 20, 2014, at 20:05:27

Northwestern University recently did a study that showed that If you exercise for 35 to 40 min at least 4 times a week for 16 weeks at 60-70% of your max heart rate, you will sleep at least 45 min longer and be less depressed. What's important to note is that nobody improved until 16 weeks. I've been doing this for 13 weeks now, so I'll keep everyone posted on my progress at week 16. The article is online for everyone to see if you are interested.

it increases the blood flow to the brain, creates better transmission and over all feeling active, also some endorphin release during moderate to intense excerhise, i ran cross country couple years ago and after my runs i always felt refreshed, even thought i was tired for a bit maybe an hour, then went to class.....

if you take otc suppolements such as DLPA and fish oil and lso acetyl l carnitine will greatly increase exersice's benefits

What this study says is that exercise has no immediate sustained impact on sleep. For instance, if you exercise today, you won't sleep better tonight. What it says is that if you follow the protocol form16 weeks you will sleep better. I pray this actually works

My whole quality of life is improved with excercise. Although can't run anymore I still must ride 6 miles a day on bike. My sleep and mood are improved with excercise. It increases the blood flow to all parts of body and yes does increase or raise endorphins so keep it up. Phillipa

?

That particular amount of exercise that it is talking about?

My current zopiclone substitute is called 'Jacob's ladder'. 3x 500 feet and I'm out like a light within 2 hours.

Ive hiked at least 3 miles most days since 2004, but was always active my whole life. This has been the most important habit to help with sleep, depression, anxiety, all things mental...I lift weights too, but sometimes let that aspect slide. As Ive gotten older, Ive started to enjoy more stretching and balance exercises too.
