Tramadol for OCD

Posted by phidippus on February 4, 2014, at 20:27:51

I've added 200 mg Tramadol ER to my med regimen to battle my OCD. Does anyone have experience treating their OCD with Tramadol?

Eric

Lithium 1200 mg
Lexapro 20 mg
Vyvanse 70 mg
Invega 12 mg
Tramadol ER 200 mg

I used to take old school, ir tramadol for crazy. Keep in mind, I probably have bipolar I, with an inclination towards psychotic depression.

It *did* help racing thoughts, anxiety, nervous tension, and weird ocd-ish stuff. I don't know how it'd do in a cocktail...better, worse, etc. My best guess is that it'd be a good mood elevator and tension-tamer.

I read that its kinda sorta like Effexor, which makes sense...plus the whole pain killing thing, which is nice. Mildly euphoric, at least on the pain-killing plan (100mgs X 4 daily).

Good luck to yoU!

Eric they say that tramadol isn't compatible with SSRI's like Lexapro that can cause serotonin syndrome. Did you doc prescribe it for you? Do you know anymore about the incompatibility? Phillipa

Their is a risk of seratonin syndrome when combining any serotogenic agents. So far 3 days at 200 mg a day and no SS whatsoever.

What are you taking these days?

Could you consider dropping the Lexapro and substituting clomipramine 150mg/day?

I am experiencing a lift in mood which is most welcome-so much so my wife has noticed that I've been more up.

Its got a lot going for it as a mood enhancer-its an snri similar too Venlafaxine, is an acethycholine blocker, and nmda antagonist and a weak u-opioid agonist.
