How to find Nardil maintenance dose?

Posted by JawiCoolGuy on September 7, 2013, at 23:07:41

Hi internet people. I'm currently on week 15 of my Nardil therapy, and I've had both tremendous success and failure in that span of time.

As the title suggests, I'm trying to find a good maintenance dose to stick with and just be done with this already. So far, this hasn't been easy in the slightest, due to all the factors taken into account. Things like varied methods, and severity of illness, and how long you should stay on each dose with things like possible initial hypomania, then periods of no therapeutic response, then down-regulation and all that blah.

So, here has been my progress so far (written vaguely for your reading pleasure):

I have given each dose above 45mg up to 120mg, except 90 and 105mg, at least 2 weeks to work. I know, this is a very short amount of time, but 2 weeks of staying on a dose that can't work or just doesn't work consistently (all of them) is painfully unbearable to me given my disorders.

What I've found out so far, is that, if I were to take 120mg, EXACTLY 6 days and 13.5 hours later, I feel REALLY good. I've tested this several times, and due the the precise accuracy of it, I can say conclusively that this is not due to a spike in PEA, or hypomania, but is in fact, the exact time it takes my MAO enzymes to regenerate. Not bad, huh?

So, due to this phenomenon, I've found out that I have 0 to miniscule response to ANY dosage below 120mg. I don't care about side effects, if this were that simple, I'd chose 120mg over my disorders a million times over. Unfortunately it isn't that simple.

Here's the shtick.. If I take 120mg (my apparent 'working' dose), I feel good for the duration of the dose's MAO inhibition, but if I go any higher, I begin to feel nothing. 0 percent, and I constantly want to die. So, just don't go higher, right? Wrong. Taking doses of 120mg consecutively, one after another has apparently been having a stacking effect on my dosage. Now, waiting could possibly cause enough down regulation for a finally effective maintenance dose, or could just be wasting potentially MONTHS of my time, so I feel screwed.

My question? Is there any way to tell early on if you're on the correct maintenance dose?

This is the end of the thread.
