Sadly I think your absolutely right

Five years ago it was still a buzzing with ideas & Posts
Lots of very intelligent contaminators

But really I think its been slowly dieing for the last six-seven years

Not the same level of discussion as there used to be
Mainly because there's just far less posters.........

walmart killed mom and pops, google kills faltering forums. I can post here and wait 2-3 days for an answer if I get one at all. Or I can google it and find the answer myself in 5 minutes. It's a combination of things.

I agree. This place has not changed. The population has been drastically silenced, or reduced; but there are so many more sources of information on the Internet that a community railing against its administration is more likely to be overlooked than delved into. Who wants to put their hand into a hornet's nest to find the same answer you can get without trauma elsewhere?

I'm here for the people, not the owner of the sandbox.

You are right...answers are within easy reach without having to pose a question to PBabble and wait for a response. But I think for most people this place is not just somewhere to go and ask questions...it is a place for dialogue and community. I'm hoping that it can remain that way. Seems though like I'm hearing a lot of people say it isn't like it used to be and stuff like that. herpills

Unfortunately it isn't the same. You can check this out google something in the archieves and note the length of the threads to the questions asked. Phillipa

I have to disagree. Babble has not died. Babble has changed, but change isn't death.

I find those helpful comments. Posters don't get immediate answers here. Posters get dialogue and community.

And some posters see the glass as half full, while others see it as half empty.

I hope it's not dying. I like the idea of coming here and bouncing ideas off others and hearing of others experiences.

I know that I first came here as a frightened, newly diagnosed patient looking for answers. Honestly, they were so diverse that I was not calmed at all. I tried to use the Medication board then as a place to relate my personal experiences, but nobody seemed to care, in my eyes.

So gradually I shifted to Writing, Substance, Psychology now and then, mostly Social, Administration with poor results, making and destroying friendships along the way.

An extensive absence and some of my favourite boards are kaput, with Social picking up the slack.

This place is now about the people and their experiences, and not so much a forum for medication information, personally.

Does it make sense to use a smaller glass?

I think it's forums in general, it's a lot less turnover than for ten years ago. It's like all the questions have been asked and it's easier and faster to google, whatever your question is, someone has asked it and it's almost always answered.

I think this site is far more helpful then any other site I have been to for depression.... and I'm pretty sure I've been to them all.

Yay!

Perhaps we will emerge from this dark age to experience a renaissance.

Well, I bought the T-shirt, but I found the site to be mostly a lot of disclaimers (variations of "your mileage may vary") and more helpful for some dx's than others.

I do think this site is more broad in the range of topics discussed. At least therapy is brought into the discussion, for example.
