if you took Ativan for 5 years ..1.5 at night ...5 during the day....and you tapered .5 how soon would you have withdrawals....and could it include shortness of breath

Yes, shortness of breath is a possible symptom of benzo withdrawal, but it might be a good idea to see your doctor to make sure it's not something else. I took Ativan for three years. It took me four months to taper off benzos. I did a crossover to Valium halfway through the taper. Each time I'd cut my dose, I'd start to feel withdrawal symptoms after two or three days. You did a 25% cut, which is pretty steep. It would be better to taper at a slower rate. BenzoBuddies.org has lots of advice on tapering.

thanks that may or may not be the issue as I recently had 2 stints put in and on 4 other meds also..one of which could cause shortness of breath

Please do see & call your doctor that put the stents in. What type of heart issue did you have. Blockage or MI? Phillipa

phillipa had 2 stints put in major artery..4 mos. ago...called him he did another stress test..ok....sent me to pulmonary dr. ok....says its not the meds ..not convinced......also the week before the stints started viibryd?? pdoc does not think this is it...that's why I pose the Ativan question....lost mom, lost job, had this heart problem within a year....its been tuff
