klonopin sedation

Posted by g_g_g_unit on July 23, 2013, at 6:58:04

I've been on and off Klonopin once already. I was initially prescribed it for insomnia when I was on Parnate. I quickly grew tolerant to the sedative effects (I went from 0.5mg to 1.5mg over a few months) and never noticed much day-time relief from anxiety. Then, strangely enough, after the sedation wore off, I started feeling more alert and anxious after taking it at night.

I tend to give up on benzos pretty quickly because I end up falling asleep during the day, which I hate, even though I know it's transient -- but I've stuck with Lorazepam and Xanax long enough to know both definitely cause paradoxical reactions.

I'm agoraphobic at the moment and would like to leave the house on occasion, so my doctor gave me Klonopin again. I took 0.5mg yesterday morning and fell asleep. I'm not sure if it was also the coffee I drank to help stay awake, but I was unusually snappy and irritable.

Since taking it at night just eventually ends up in me feeling stimulated, I've been having trouble deciding whether I should try just 0.25mg once or twice a day, or if that eventual stimulation I felt on Parnate indicates it's just gonna have a paradoxical effect anyway.

When years ago I started benzos they gave me energy as the anxiety was relieved. Have you tried other benzos? Phillipa
