Maybe you should.
Are you still taking Abilify?
Minocycline is not an antibiotic. It is a molecule with antibiotic properties. It also has antigluatmate, anti-inflammarory, neuroprotective, neurotrophic, and neurogenic properties. As far as I know, this is the only drug that does all of these things. If you haven't tried minocycline, you cannot characterize your projected reaction to it by comparing it to your eardrops.
More specifically, minocycline:
1. Is neuroprotective.
2. Reduces brain inflammation
3. Reduces the number of glutamate receptors.
4. Demonstrates antidepressant properties in mouse models of depression.
5. Is reported to act synergistically with noradrenergic antidpressants to treat depression - desipramine (but not fluoxetine).
6. Is reported to act synergistically with NMDA antagonists.
7. Reduces glutamate excitotoxicity by reducing the formation of quinolic acid, a NMDA agonist.
8. Reduces mitochondrial release of cytochrome C.
9. Modulates several signalling pathways.
10. Reduces microglial activation.
11. Has been reported anecdotally to successively treat depression.
12. Reduces the expression of lipopolysaccharide-induced pro-inflammation cytokines, an effect that acts as an antidepressant in animal models.

Minocycline is used also as it's main purpose fir acne. As an antibiotic? Jeroen I did google your eardrops and a different antibiotic is in them. I think a combo of two. So if you just started them maybe your expectations were too high? Will you talk to the doc at the clinic? I'm sorry this time is working so far at least. Phillipa
