JATROSOM anyone?

Posted by vanvog on April 8, 2013, at 19:14:26

Some say it's still a mixture Trifluoperazine + Tranylcypromine, others say it's just generic Parnate now sold under the same name.

Has anyone had experience with MODERN Jatrosom?

Hi,

Jatrosom is the German version of Parnate (but from a different manufacturer), i.e. it contains only tranylcypromine. It used to contain trifluoperazine, but that's no longer the case. It comes in 10mg and 20mg strength, the 20mg tablets are scored and can be split into 2 x 10mg.

I hope this helps!

ER

Thanks europerep!

I contacted the German manufacturer of Jatrosom.

Apparently until 1990 "Jatrosom" was a fixed mixture of 10 mg Tranylcypromine + 1 mg Trifluoperazine. Since 1991 in only contains Tranylcypromine, it was renamed "Jatrosom N" (1991-2007) but its back to the original name now, without the "N".

Has someone tried it? Does it have the same effect/potency/side-effects as the original Parnate?

Yeah, I've taken it. I had a thread where I talked a little about my experience with it. Here's a post that might be of interest to you:

I used "Parnate" in the thread title because everyone here is familiar with that name, but as I describe in the thread, I was taking Jatrosom. I got a weak but pleasurable stimulant effect from it, which I haven't seen many members who took Parnate describe, but I'm not sure whether that's due to the particular pharmacology of Jatrosom, or whether it was just me. I stopped taking Jatrosom after a while though, because it clearly worsened my depression.

If you have any other questions, let me know...
