Amitrip + Luvox

Posted by tensor on March 11, 2013, at 16:32:46

I have had a good week on amitrip 75mg, exercising a lot, but today was bad, don't know why. Maybe I'm having a cold infection, they usually hit me hard on my mental energy. Don't know why. Hopefully this dip is transient and gone tomorrow, but I don't know yet.
I would like to here about your experiences with Luvox, the one SSRI I have not yet tested. For anxiety and depression and its side effects.

Thanks.

The plan is not to combine these two, just looking for options if amitrip fails.

Tensor you seem to know a lot about luvox. I do remember Larry Hoover took it before I was a babble member. I did feel better today just dropping a bit of lexapro and again adding a bit more luvox to only 25mg. And what's a sigma l receptor? Thanks Phillipa

I've been on both amitriptyline and flvoxamine.

Um....its hard to comare them.

I think that amitriptyline is better for blocking the effects of chronic stress, insomnia, weight loss etc.

Fluvoxamine was better at 'getting me ot of myself'. It made me more outgoing.

I think that I prefer flvoxamine for being cleaner, but amitriptyline still has qualities.

I've had a better day today, so I will continue with amitrip at 75mg. I notice it makes me feel more relaxed around people, which is very welcome. The side effects at this dosage are low but I can imagine at higher doses they can be too much, so Luvox is a plan B.
Did Luvox kill your sex life? I don't find amitrip so bad in this regard, but I do also take Remeron which mitigates.

Link how high was you dose? Did you require a benzos? From what I read I'm playing with fire taking valium & xanax. But the docs don't seem to know that ativan is the only one that isn't potentiated by luvox. So if one takes a lower dose of valium & xanax is this basically the same as a higher dose of ativan? Where did you read that? Does that combo work for you?

You could do a crossover from Xanax and Valium to Ativan over a few weeks. Although they are all benzos they are still different molecules and the therapeutic effect will differ. I do not like Xanax for instance, while others think it's the best.
So if the Xanax/Valium combo is working for you I don't see any reason to change that.

Tensor it sounded dangerous with the luvox and this sigma 1 thing. I felt worse today with higher luvox and lower lexapro. Doing a lot of experimenting so will do the opposite tonight. See if any difference. Phillipa

Could be worth trying a little longer, if it's not too bad of course.

Old thread, but I've been down for the count for almost a week. Luvox is the only SSRI I've never been on either, and now that anxiety is such a huge factor in my illness, I also would love to hear if anyone else has some input on its efficacy/side effects. So stop yer lurking and get a-typing if y'all have anything to add!! :D
