Fleetwood Mac

Posted by SLS on February 17, 2013, at 15:38:44

It was a sort of round-about way of arriving at a higher dosage of lithium, but it was fortunate that I decided to try removing it. I would not have experimented with higher dosages otherwise. So, I went from 300 mg/day to 450 mg/day. 600 mg/day flattened me out too much. I am doing quite a bit better. I foresee good things happening. At some point, I will try removing the Abilify. I would like to lose weight, but it is more important that I reduce my triglycerides. Abilify is the most likely culprit for these things. Although it is my guess that I will end up needing Abilify, it is the logical move to attempt to discontinue it. I'll wait awhile before doing this.

I hope to be able to increase my level of engagement in life soon. It will be a gradual process for me. Even if I were to wake up tomorrow morning feeling 100% well, it would still take awhile to recover from what this illness has done to me. I hope to be working by this time next year. We'll see.

At the moment, I'm listening to Fleetwood Mac - Don't Stop. It just happens to be playing.

Don't stop, thinking about tomorrow,
Don't stop, it'll soon be here,
It'll be, better than before,
Yesterday's gone, yesterday's gone.

Yesterday will never truly be gone, but I will try to take along with me into tomorrow the best of my past and continue to learn from the worst of it.

Good work Scott

I'm thinking of switching from risperidone to Geodon/Zeldox, because according to Australian Prescriber Zeldox has singificantly less chance of causing weight gain and metablic syndrome, while being just as effective. of course, it demepds on price, i can get 100x 2mg risperidone for $5 from India, I'll see what they charge for 200x 20mg Zeldox

Didn't you start getting stable just recently? Seems counter-intuitive to drop meds. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Either way glad you're better.

Clinton/Gore ruined that song for me when it was played at the inauguration or wherever it was played. And I voted for him.

My depression has been in compete remisdsion for a while, but my anxiety is still problematic, despite various things we've done.

I need to lose weight, and would like to try Geodon/Zeldox to see if it would have the same benificial effects without promoting weight gain

If ziprasidone makes your anxiety worse, you can try its sister drug, lurasidone. Lurasidone is supposedly weight-neutral and doesn't have the SNRI properties of Geodon. Also, lurasidone, like risperidone, antagonizes 5-HT7 receptors, so you might glean an antidepressant effect from it. There is some thought by Stephen Stahl that dosages below 40 mg/day of Geodon can actually promote agitation. I believe that 40 mg/day is what most people use for depression.

I haven't decided when to try the Abilify experiment. I don't plan on starting it tomorrow, though. I'm going to taper it slowly. If I relapse, I'll know why. I am not afraid that I wouldn't recapture the therapeutic response upon restarting it. I really need to lose weight and I really need to reduce my triglycerides.

Thanks, Phil.

Yeah, they did kinda beat that song to death.

You did WHAT?!

Would you consider trying metformin? It can help with blood sugar and other aspects of the metabolic syndrome, it can also help with weight loss, or atleast help with keeping off any weight you manage to lose.

Thanks. I'll ask about it.

If you need to drop some weight, and feel you need a little help, consider phentermine

I lost 12kg in 4 weeks taking 30mg of SR phentermine in themorning, and eating a high protein, low fat, lowish carb diet, and it caused no side effects at all

Not sure whether you can take it with Parnate though - but it might be worth checking out

I was mistaken. Lurasidone is not related to ziprasidone.
