Hi Guys,
My doc gave me a months supply(30) of 1mg tablets of clonzapam(Sp?) on the 4th of December to help a little breakthrough anxiety while starting lexapro 10mg. I have used about about 19 of those pills at various times over the last month and half. Sometimes 1 pill a day and sometimes just a 1/4 of a pill here and there. My question is have I taken them long enough to need to taper off. I am having some bad anxiety right now and about to up my dose of lex to 15mg. I havent taken the klonopin in about a week and i didnt know if the anxiousness was caused by not taking the klonopin. Thanks

hi baseball-
I have a lot of experience w/ benzos, and my first inclination is that your anxiety is not from the klonopin, but from the Lexapro dose increase. That said, I have a high tolerance for benzos and I do get withdrawal symptoms pretty quickly.
Perhaps take .5 nightly w/ your Lexapro, then taper off (you can do .5 every other night or switch to Valium which is less potent, still long-lasting, but easier to get precise dosages) when the anxiety abates...
Feel better.

It's possible to suffer benzo withdrawl after just 19 pills taken over six weeks. Most people won't have this problem, but there are plenty of people who post on BenzoBuddies who suffered withdrawal symptoms after just a few days on benzos. If the anxiety you're going through is benzo withdrawal (and there's a good chance that it's not), it shouldn't be too protracted, since you took klonopin for such a short time. Some people might suggest that you go back on klonopin and gradually taper your dose, but since you've already been off it a week, it might be better to just ride out the anxiety, if it's tolerable, that is.

Thanks! Well i haven't increased my dose yet but I am about to. I just didn't feel like 19 pills in about 55 days was enough to cause withdrawals but wasn't sure.

I'd continue with the klonpin since was helping you. Just my opinion. Phillipa

No, 19 pills over 5 weeks you should just be able to stop cold.
