Parnate Withdrawal

Posted by Parnate User1 on January 11, 2013, at 21:41:35

I stopped taking Parnate 3 weeks ago and Ive been having terrible anxiety for a week. I had never had a panic attack in my life until this week. Has anyone experienced Parnate withdrawal before? What is the longest it could last?

I was only on 5mg Parnate for about a week and still had withdrawals like you described. For me it was resolved and back to my baseline in about 5 days but since you've been on it longer and higher doses it's hard to say. A week? Two? Four? Dunno.

I'm glad I am not alone. Unfortunately, I still have some anxiety after 3 weeks. See if your doctor will give you some xanax as your body adjusts.

I'm sorry you are dealing with the same withdrawal issues. Did you find anything online about people who have experienced anxiety due to Parnate withdrawal after 3 weeks? Are you sure that your anxiety is a result of withdrawal and not just the return of the anxiety you had prior to taking Parnate?

I don't think I have found anything online. I do know that years ago when I went off Emsam was the first time I understood extreme anxiety. But I don't think that is typical.
For the Parnate, I withdrew more slowly, and I am pretty sure it increased my anxiety for a while. I think I am about to having the level of anxiety I did before (so maybe 3 weeks after stopping). But I do probably have a more difficult time adjusting to withdrawals than most.
Is your anxiety easing yet?

Thanks for responding. It's encouraging to hear that your anxiety went away after a few weeks Unfortunately, my anxiety hasn't subsided. I've never had anxiety nearly this intense before. Hopefully, my anxiety will go away shortly. Do you have any recommendations for treating intense anxiety other than benzos and SSRI's.
