insurance declined to pay for Nuvigil

Posted by rjlockhart37 on January 9, 2013, at 12:34:10

my mom has been saying the insurance company will not pay it anymore...because 2 reasons, that Nuvigil is not a ADD medication, they said its only for Narcolepsy. 2nd its vary expensive to pay for....it is Nuvigil is off the charts in price....im gonna have to Provigil or maybe if can talk to my doc about something else that will be effective. Already been on Strattera and Wellbutrin, they failed.

Does anyone know the Price of Provigil the generic form?

i don't know what to do....the insurance ends when im 26...which is in April 20th, i've gotta apply with MHMR...my abilities to work right now, i can't do it I always have difficulties, losing tasks, not absorbing info....i've gotta get this under control until i can do this...and be on my own.

Anyone have any responses on this...it would be a waste to write the insurance company a letter because im going off in April.

anyone?

You should apply for Medicaid. Like right now so you will have insurance in April.

I don't think Provigil comes in generic. BTW how did you get a controled substance from your doc. I thought she would not give it to you.

i started Nuvigil maybe about a year ago....i called my doctor and told her that i was so depressed i just....couldnt not even leave the bed....or if i did, i couldnt think or do anything which was the case...maybe on some days it wasnt as bad....but yea...

the only thing she's hesitant on with me is the amphetamine stimulants, and also methyphenidate...still she's not an amphtamine doctor she talks bad about it in the sessions and says she uses concerta with some of the peopel that see her, of course excluding me out...lol...

the benzos...i don't know about the benzos...if it got the point where i was frozen in anxiety everyday...maybe....but i don't have bad anxiety right now....it was in the past, i thought i was going crazy and being possessed by evil spirits. I just think too much on the spirit relm.

but...anways....yea, hopefully the'll go with provigil...but if the insurance declines, then ill have to deal with it. And plus in april when i go off...unpleasant to think about right now....

thanks...

Provigil....$800 month 1 X 100 mg day

Generic
Modafinil...$300 month 1 X 100 mg day

This is off a drug checker price, could be off a bit. Call Costco for cheapest price.

RJ, when you come off of your parents insurance, you should qulaify for medicare/medicade shouldnt you, as you arnt working and need medical coverage?

I'd get the ball rolling now, get an application in, so that you dont have to go any time without cover.

Definitely start now. Can you get Disability from your pdoc and let the process begin with him/her with paperwork. Don't you have family that can do this Dad, Brother? Phillipa

yea...my dad...well i should be having proper contact with my family...my dad's side...he's living about 30miles from me from fort worth...i havent talked with him in while...my brother...goodness my brother what else can i say...if i lived with him he would make me live in dog house outside....not really an option with my brother...he's the kinda that would leave me and let me figure it out myself, which is not a bad thing....but that's vary hard for me.

I'm working right now getting all the medical files of every doctor i've seen from 2004 till now....all the psych hospitals i've been in, their written reports of my condition, everything...the last documented thing was the disorganized schizophenia diagnosis...and she distincly put on the report i need to apply for disablity and never work....which i don't take that into a account, my career is gonna in investments...just don't know when im gonnna map it all out.

yea....i may get a lawyer too if it looks too much to fight. But i don't plan on staying on disability for a long period...this is a period where i just need help alot.

thanks ill keep you updated:)
