Concerta update

Posted by Raisinb on October 8, 2012, at 20:27:19

It's been a few weeks and I can confidently say that Concerta is helping tremendously with my depression. My pdoc had a theory that I have comorbid ADHD, and because of this, I wasn't responding fully to bipolar meds. I don't know if it's that, or if the stimulant is just having a direct effect on my depression. Maybe both. The stimulant does have a dramatic effect on my ability to organize myself and complete tasks (I actually want to clean the house), and that has an effect on mood, too.

The Concerta also makes me want to exercise (I've been running about five miles a day) and I'm sure that's also having a positive result for mood.

Anyway, I'm finally having a positive experience and wanted to share the results. If anyone else is dealing with treatment resistant depression or bipolar II, the stimulant option really is worth trying.

Friends
It is written here,[...the stimulant option is really worth trying...(Concerta)].
Bu let me sgare something with you. Youwho are trying to deciede to dru your child or not. You that are wanting more information in order to make a more-informed decision as to if druggin' yourself or one that tyou are a cartaker of. You who understand the placebo effect. You that have some knowledge of rat poison and chemicals used in nerve agents for mass-murder. You who question the advertising of mind-altering drugs. You who question as to if chemicals can cure or heal the mind. You who want to know the truth. You who will not accept a lie.
You see, the drug here is a cousin of Cocaine. It is a Central Nervous System stimulent. It has it's cnsequences after the initial effect subsides. And these consequences could be life-ruining or cause death. YOu see, this is a chemical devised by a chemist for his wife, who was called Rita in order to raise her blood pressure to play tennis. Lovely Rita, Ritalin.
Now let's look at the consequences of suicide ideation, depression, death and other consequences.

That is happy news that you're having good luck with the Concerta! My psychiatrist is very practical and finds stimulants helpful for some of his depressed patients. Keep enjoying the wonderful relief you're getting.

It's funny, running could be very bad for my mood when I wasn't on the right meds. But now that my combo seems to be working, running is too. It makes me very happy to finish an intense run. I guess we are all different and there are so many variables. I wish people would stop saying exercise is a cure-all for depression, because it does have the potential to make you worse if you do not have he right diagnosis or your issues lead you to overdo it.

Sort of. When I'm not doing well I tend to self-berate constantly and the running feeds into that. I hate myself for not doing more, faster, etc. and it puts me into a bad cycle of negative rumination.
