Morning fatigue/Trileptal dose

Posted by Sheilac on October 2, 2012, at 16:23:36

I love 600mg of Trileptal, but 300mg in the morning makes me so sleepy. The evening dose of 300mg knocks me out.

Any suggestions as to how to deal with this besides too much coffee?

Would 450 at night and 150 in morning be an option or does it need to be divided equally?

Still haven't figured out an antidepressant. Not sure about trying Wellbutrin again. Maybe it would help wake me up without making me manic?

Wellbutrin is an activating AD. So it might make you feel less drowsy. Ask your pdoc or a pharmacist if your med has to be taken in two equally divided doses. I really can't advise you on that matter b/c I'm not a health care professional.

Given that they are closely related, would a change to Trgratol CR (carbamazepine slow release tablets) be an option - that way, the dose is released slowly over 12 hours, rather than hitting you all at once.

My dads wift took tegretol for trigeminal neuralgia, and was troubled by feeling "doped" after taking the pills, but when she changed to Tegretol CR the problem more or less vanished.

A stimulant would be of benefit-like Adderall. Or you could try Nuvigal. Coffee is good too.

does it need to be divided equally?

Not really.

Wellbutrin is not that stimulating.
