Since you have been on klonopin I wouldn't think going up on it would do this. I couldn't take it tried once had immediate suicidal thoughts and wasn't suicidal. So called the doc who said stop and go back on xanax? Maybe it's different with mood swings? Phillipa

It's the only benzo that makes me feel worse, it causes me to feel depressed.

I feel a lower dose works better for anxiety and doesnt cause me depression. I take .5mg once a day,.75mg at most.

this is a phenomena that is reported quite often here, people wrote about a "blue feeling", being depressed. Diazepam, especially clonazepam is said to be depressogenic. Librium and similar benzos like prazepam et cetera are said to cause less such side effects.

But as we all know with drugs, things can't be applied to everyone. Therefore it is possible that you have a different reaction. Take care.

I was on klonopin (.5 - 1mg) for about 2 years and felt like crap. Gradually phased it out and felt almost normal for about 9 months. Now I'm back on it...

Klonopin can cause depression straight out. Part of its mechanism of action is to block seratonin activity.

Klonopin does not cause depression in me.I wonder if the low dosage is less depressing? Or is it that my primary dx is gad, panic disorder, both leading to depression if not treated?

I t won't make everyone depressed, especially if you're on a bunch of other antidepressants.

Simliar experience. I was on the same exact combo. While I found that it was easier for me to sit still and a lot of the physical symptoms of anxiety were diminished, klonipin did very little for "mental" anxiety: phobias, panic attacks, racing thoughts, etc and definitely worsened depression. If i took more than 1mg a day I would soon thereafter go into a full blown panic attack, perhaps because of aforementioned effect on serotonin. But it wasn't fun to get off of either.

I did, however, take klonipin with celexa for a period, and all the negative effects of the klonipin disappeared.
